The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled its full list of eligible films for the 98th Oscars in the animated, documentary, and international feature categories. The announcement spans more than 300 titles, though some entries still need to meet qualifying release requirements before the end of 2025 to comply with Academy rules.
In the animated feature category, 35 titles are eligible for consideration, including high-profile sequels and beloved franchise entries such as The Bad Guys 2, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, and Zootopia 2. Other animated films on the list include All Operators Are Currently Unavailable, Arco, Black Butterflies, Boys Go to Jupiter, ChaO, Colorful Stage! The international feature film category drew 86 submissions from countries across the globe. The upcoming months will see Academy members attending screenings and voting to narrow this expansive field down to shortlists and official nominees, with documentary and international shortlists set to be announced on December 16, 2025.
