Ayushmann Khurrana’s Next Film Is Titled Mupapa, Marks First YRF–Posham Pa Theatrical Collaboration

Ayushmann Khurrana's next film, Mupapa, will release on February 19, 2027. The film marks the first theatrical collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s next film has officially been announced. Titled Mupapa, the project marks the first-ever theatrical collaboration between Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Posham Pa Pictures. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on February 19, 2027, with both production houses describing it as the beginning of a long-term creative partnership.

The makers have billed Mupapa as a genre-bending theatrical experience that promises a fresh visual style for audiences. YRF has described it as a film designed to keep viewers on edge from beginning to end. Beyond that, however, plot details remain tightly under wraps, with no story or character information revealed so far.

The film is significant not only for what will appear on screen but also for the collaboration behind it. Mupapa marks the first theatrical venture between Yash Raj Films, one of Bollywood’s most established production houses, and Posham Pa Pictures, the creative banner behind several acclaimed digital projects. Both companies have confirmed that Mupapa is the first of multiple films they plan to produce together, reflecting producer Aditya Chopra’s broader vision of expanding YRF’s creative partnerships under the leadership of CEO Akshaye Widhani.

As CEO of Yash Raj Films, Akshaye Widhani continues to play an increasingly important role in the studio’s evolving production strategy. Mupapa marks only his second film as a producer. His first production, Saiyaara, went on to become the highest-grossing romantic film in the history of Indian cinema. With Mupapa, Widhani continues to build YRF’s slate through a new creative partnership with Posham Pa Pictures.

Mupapa will be directed by Sameer Saxena, one of the four partners at Posham Pa Pictures alongside Biswapati Sarkar, Saurabh Khanna, and Amit Golani. Saxena is widely recognized as one of the leading showrunners in India’s digital entertainment space. His credits include popular series such as Tripling, Yeh Meri Family, Permanent Roommates, and Maamla Legal Hai, all of which developed loyal audiences. He also directed Netflix’s critically acclaimed survival thriller Kaala Paani and the 2022 feature film Jaadugar, starring Jitendra Kumar. Mupapa will mark his biggest theatrical feature to date.

For those unfamiliar with the company, Posham Pa Pictures has emerged as one of India’s most respected content creators in the digital space. Through the work of Saxena, Sarkar, Khanna, and Golani, the banner has been behind several critically acclaimed and audience-favourite series in recent years. Their move into mainstream theatrical filmmaking with Yash Raj Films represents a significant milestone for the company while also highlighting the increasingly close relationship between India’s digital storytelling ecosystem and the big screen.

Ayushmann Khurrana has built his career by choosing unconventional stories across a wide range of genres. From Vicky Donor and Andhadhun to Article 15 and Bala, the actor has consistently headlined films built around distinctive concepts. He was most recently seen in the comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, and Mupapa adds another original project to his upcoming slate.

Production is now underway and a theatrical release is locked for February 19, 2027. Mupapa marks the beginning of a new creative partnership between Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures. While story details remain a closely guarded secret, the collaboration itself has positioned the film as one of the notable Hindi releases currently lined up for 2027.
