Chhaava Continues Its Box Office Domination While Crazxy Struggles to Stay Afloat

Bollywood’s box office last week saw Chhaava continuing its unprecedented dominance, while new releases like Crazxy and Superboys of Malegaon struggled to make an impact. Adding to its success, Chhaava made its Telugu debut, collecting an impressive ₹8.16 crore in its first three days. Here’s a detailed analysis of the numbers and trends that defined the week.

Chhaava Eyes ₹750 Crore as Maharashtra Goes Berserk

Despite facing a minor setback on Sunday due to the cricket match, Chhaava delivered a fantastic ₹24 crore nett in its fourth weekend, proving its rock-solid hold at the box office. The film is showing remarkable consistency and is projected to see only a 50-55% week-on-week drop, mirroring its Week 3 trend.

The Marathi audience has wholeheartedly embraced the film, and Chhaava is now on track to collect ₹250 crore nett in Maharashtra alone—a feat that no film in recent history has even come close to achieving. The Mumbai circuit collection is expected to be in the same range, making it the highest-grossing film in the region. For context, Chhaava will surpass Pushpa 2 in Maharashtra by ₹60-70 crore, an achievement that cements its status as an all-time blockbuster in the state.

Total Box Office Breakdown (India Nett Collections):

  • Week 1: ₹219.25 crore
  • Week 2: ₹180.25 crore
  • Week 3: ₹84.05 crore
  • Fourth Weekend: ₹24 crore
  • Total Collection (India Nett): ₹705.30 crore (approx.)
  • Telugu Dub Collection (Included in Total): ₹8.16 crore
  • Worldwide Gross Collection: Over ₹850 crore

With the current trend, Chhaava is expected to comfortably cross the ₹750 crore nett mark in India and ₹900 crore gross worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films ever.

Crazxy Fails to Impress Despite Promotional Offers

Unlike Chhaava, new release Crazxy has had an extremely underwhelming run at the box office, collecting a disappointing ₹5.50 crore nett in its first week. The film’s weekday collections were largely driven by a Buy One Get One Free ticket offer, which artificially inflated the numbers. Without this offer, the actual footfall for Crazxy would have been even lower.

To put things into perspective, Crazxy’s first-week collection is in the same range as Loveyapa, Badass Ravi Kumar, and Mere Husband Ki Biwi, all of which were box office failures. The film continues to struggle, with total earnings standing at ₹10.50 crore by the start of its second week.

Total Box Office Breakdown (India Nett Collections):

  • Week 1: ₹6.6 crore
  • Second Weekend: ₹3.9 crore
  • Total Collection: ₹10.50 crore (approx.)
  • Worldwide Gross Collection: ₹15 crore (approx.)

At this rate, the film is unlikely to recover its costs, marking it as another disappointment in 2025’s Bollywood lineup.

Superboys of Malegaon Shows Some Acceptance

The other new release, Superboys of Malegaon, did not perform well either, collecting only ₹2.25 crore nett in its first week. However, unlike Crazxy, there is at least some level of audience acceptance. Had the film used the same ticket discounting strategy, its weekday numbers could have increased by ₹10-15 lakh per day, but it refrained from relying on such artificial boosts.

Despite the slow start, the film may hold better than Crazxy in the coming days due to word-of-mouth traction in smaller centers.

A One-Sided Battle at the Box Office

While Chhaava continues to shatter records, Crazxy and Superboys of Malegaon have failed to make a significant impact. Chhaava is rewriting history in Maharashtra and Mumbai, eyeing a massive final tally, while the new releases will likely fade away quickly.

With more major releases on the horizon, it remains to be seen if anything can challenge Chhaava’s dominance or if it will continue its relentless march toward all-time box office glory.
