Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie Set Netflix Reunion With Revenge Action Film Dogfight

Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie reunite for Netflix revenge action film Dogfight.

Jason Statham and filmmaker Guy Ritchie are teaming up once again for Dogfight, a new revenge action film set in London’s criminal underworld. Announced by Netflix, the project will see Ritchie write, direct and produce, with Statham starring and also serving as a producer. Production is scheduled to begin in the United Kingdom in early 2027, marking another collaboration between the actor and filmmaker whose professional partnership dates back to the late 1990s.

Dogfight will be the seventh feature film to bring Statham and Ritchie together. Their working relationship began with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Ritchie’s feature directorial debut, which also gave Statham his first film role. They reunited for Snatch (2000) and later worked together on Revolver (2005), Wrath of Man (2021) and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023).

Their sixth collaboration, Viva La Madness, is also awaiting release. Based on J.J. Connolly’s novel, the film follows the author’s earlier book Layer Cake, which was adapted for the screen in 2004. However, Viva La Madness is being described as a standalone film rather than a continuation of the earlier movie. Principal photography wrapped earlier in 2026. Black Bear will distribute the film in North America, while Amazon MGM Studios holds the rights to most international territories. With Viva La Madness yet to reach audiences, Dogfight will become the pair’s seventh feature collaboration.

Netflix has described Dogfight as a “stylish revenge actioner set in the London criminal underworld”. Beyond that description, the streamer has not revealed any plot details. The identities of the characters, the circumstances behind the revenge story and the wider cast have not yet been announced. The film’s title and setting are currently the principal details available about its story.

The London setting connects the new project with the crime films that first brought Ritchie and Statham together. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch both explored the city’s criminal circles through intersecting storylines and ensembles of distinctive characters. Although it is too early to know whether Dogfight will adopt a similar narrative approach, its announced setting takes Ritchie back to familiar territory. Its revenge-driven premise also places it within the crime and action genres that have featured throughout the pair’s collaborations.

Ritchie will write, direct and produce the film, while Statham will star and produce. Dogfight is being made by Black Bear, Ritchie’s Toff Guy Films and Statham’s Punch Palace Productions. The producing team also includes Ivan Atkinson, Ritchie’s Toff Guy partner, and John Friedberg of Black Bear. The involvement of the filmmaker’s and actor’s own production companies brings their established working partnership into the production structure of the new film.

Black Bear has worked with Ritchie on several of his recent projects, including In the Grey and Wife & Dog. Its involvement in Dogfight, alongside Toff Guy Films and Punch Palace Productions, brings together companies associated with the filmmaker, the actor and their previous collaborations. Further details about the production schedule, cast and distribution arrangements beyond Netflix’s announcement have not been disclosed.

Ritchie continues to work across film and television. He created Netflix’s crime series The Gentlemen, based on his 2019 film of the same name, and serves as a director and executive producer on Paramount+’s MobLand, which stars Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. He is also attached to Young Sherlock for Prime Video, featuring Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the young detective. His continued work across streaming platforms and theatrical films has kept him active in both crime-driven storytelling and larger-scale action projects.

Statham remains a regular presence in action films, with credits including The Transporter franchise, the Fast & Furious films, The Meg, The Beekeeper and Wrath of Man. His latest film, Mutiny, was released in 2026, adding another action title to a filmography built around physically demanding leading roles. His collaborations with Ritchie have also included crime dramas and action films, making Dogfight another project that brings together two filmmakers and performers with an established professional history.

With production on Dogfight expected to begin in early 2027, Netflix has yet to announce a release date. Further information about the supporting cast, characters and storyline has also not been shared. For now, the film marks another reunion for Statham and Ritchie and returns the pair to the London crime setting that helped launch their collaboration.
