JENNIFER LAWRENCE SET TO STAR AND PRODUCE APPLE ORIGINAL FILM ‘ONE MONTH MARK’

Jennifer Lawrence is set to lead and produce One Month Mark, a new Apple Original Films romantic comedy from Sophie Fleur de Bruijn.

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is once again teaming up with Apple Original Films for a new romantic comedy, One Month Mark. The project has emerged as one of the latest high-profile acquisitions for Apple, with Lawrence attached to both star in and produce the film. Written by playwright-writer-director Sophie Fleur de Bruijn, the script generated considerable attention within the industry before ultimately landing at Apple Original Films.

David Ready and Peter Chernin of Chernin Entertainment, one of the companies behind the horror hit The Backrooms, are producing alongside Lawrence. The actress is producing through her Excellent Cadaver banner with her longtime producing partner Justine Ciarrocchi, while de Bruijn will serve as an executive producer. The official logline offers a glimpse into the story’s central premise: “She has never made it past a month in a relationship. He has never gone longer than a month without one.”

Plot details remain largely under wraps, the premise suggests a romantic comedy built around two individuals with dramatically different dating histories. Their opposing approaches to relationships are expected to collide in ways that challenge their assumptions about love, commitment, and personal growth. Additional story details are being kept confidential as the project continues to move through development.

The film currently does not have a director attached, although industry reports indicate that the search for a filmmaker is already underway. With Lawrence’s involvement and Apple’s backing, the project is expected to attract considerable interest from directors looking to work on a star-driven romantic comedy.

One Month Mark also continues the rise of Sophie Fleur de Bruijn, who is steadily establishing herself as a notable new voice in comedy. The writer previously collaborated with Apple on Early Action, another comedy project that helped introduce her work to the industry. Her background includes training at renowned comedy institutions such as iO, The Upright Citizens Brigade, and the Second City Conservatory.

De Bruijn has often expressed an interest in creating energetic, emotionally grounded stories centered on unconventional female protagonists. Those creative sensibilities appear to align closely with the tone and premise of One Month Mark, which is expected to blend humor with character-driven storytelling.

The project further strengthens Lawrence’s an increasingly significant relationship with Apple Original Films. One Month Mark marks her fourth collaboration with the studio, highlighting a partnership that has expanded across both narrative features and documentary filmmaking.

Lawrence recently wrapped filming on What Happens At Night, the upcoming Martin Scorsese drama that also stars Leonardo DiCaprio. Prior to that, she starred in and produced the acclaimed drama Causeway for Apple, earning praise for her understated performance. She also served as a producer on the Peabody Award-winning documentary Bread & Roses, which explored the lives of women in Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return to power.

As both an actor and producer, Lawrence has increasingly balanced major studio projects with character-driven stories and filmmaker-focused productions. Her continued involvement with Apple suggests a shared interest in developing original films that combine commercial appeal with strong creative talent.

The project also represents another major undertaking for Chernin Entertainment. The company has enjoyed a successful period with projects spanning film and television, including The Backrooms, Charlize Theron’s Netflix feature Apex, and the television adaptation of Man on Fire. Brady Fujikawa, Executive Vice President of Chernin Entertainment, will executive produce and oversee the project on behalf of the company.

With an in-demand script, an Oscar-winning star attached both in front of and behind the camera, and the support of Apple Original Films, One Month Mark has already emerged as one of the more closely watched romantic comedy projects currently in development. Although no additional casting announcements or release plans have been revealed, the film is expected to generate further interest as its creative team continues to take shape.

More details about the cast, director, and production schedule are expected to be announced at a later date.
