Rain Spencer and Ariana Greenblatt Join Anne Hathaway’s Little Five

Rain Spencer and Ariana Greenblatt join Anne Hathaway's Little Five, a coming-of-age sports drama inspired by Indiana University's legendary Little 500 race.

Rain Spencer and Ariana Greenblatt have been cast in Little Five, an upcoming feature from Anne Hathaway‘s Somewhere Pictures and Pigasus Pictures. The coming-of-age sports drama will be directed by Lan Samuels from a screenplay by Gillian Williams and Paul Shoulberg.

Set against the backdrop of Indiana University in the early 1980s, Little Five is inspired by the legendary Little 500 bicycle race, one of the most celebrated collegiate sporting events in the United States. The story follows four young women who come together to compete in the race, pursuing what initially seems like an impossible dream. As they challenge long-standing traditions and barriers, they discover that changing history requires teamwork, resilience, and determination.

Inspired by true events, the film explores a defining period in collegiate athletics while celebrating the women who helped reshape the landscape of university sports. Blending the spirit of competition with themes of friendship and perseverance, Little Five aims to capture the energy of the era through its music, setting, and real-life inspiration.

Production is already underway in Indiana. Last week, Pigasus Pictures issued a casting call for extras to recreate scenes at Indiana University’s Bill Armstrong Stadium, home of the Little 500 race, as well as Assembly Hall and locations throughout downtown Bloomington. The production will also recreate the Hoosiers’ 1987 NCAA men’s basketball championship celebrations as part of the film’s period setting.

Rain Spencer continues to build on the success of Amazon Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, where she plays Taylor Jewel. She previously won the Best Performance award at the Tribeca Festival for Good Girl Jane and most recently appeared in Big Girls Don’t Cry. Spencer is also set to star in the upcoming psychological thriller series Genuine Fraud. She is represented by UTA, Range Media Partners, and Yorn Levine.

Ariana Greenblatt has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young actors following her acclaimed performance as Sasha in Barbie. She recently appeared in Fear Street: Prom Queen and is also part of the upcoming crime thriller Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, in which she plays June. Greenblatt is represented by Untitled Entertainment, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Lan Samuels directs the project, while Gillian Williams and Paul Shoulberg penned the screenplay. Anne Hathaway’s Somewhere Pictures produces alongside Pigasus Pictures. Additional casting announcements, production details, and a release date have yet to be revealed by the filmmakers.
