Louis Partridge, best known for playing Lord Tewkesbury in Netflix’s Enola Holmes films, is set to star in and produce One Last Summer, an upcoming independent coming-of-age film written and directed by Misha Citron. Mia Jenkins and Jude Carmichael will also star in the project, which has completed filming in Tuscany, Italy.
The film marks Partridge’s first producing role and the debut production from Pipe Dream Films, the company he co-founded with Citron. Additional cast members are expected to be announced, while a release date has yet to be confirmed.
Set over a weekend in the Tuscan countryside, One Last Summer follows Milo, played by Partridge, who returns to the house of his late, estranged father with his best friend Zac, played by Carmichael. During their stay, Milo is persuaded to go on a double date with two American travellers. Although the encounter begins promisingly, events soon take an unexpected turn, forcing everyone involved to confront their past selves, reconsider their identities and reflect on what they will leave behind in Italy.
The story explores the intensity of brief relationships during youth, examining how attraction, friendship and unexpected encounters can leave a lasting impression. Against the backdrop of the Italian countryside, the film focuses on the uncertainty of growing up and the emotional changes that accompany the process of discovering more about oneself and others.
Jenkins, whose credits include Geek Girl and Love Me Love Me, joins Partridge and Carmichael in the cast. Details about her character, as well as the identities of the two American travellers, have not yet been disclosed.
Alongside playing Milo, Partridge will produce the film through Pipe Dream Films. The project gives the actor an opportunity to become more involved in the filmmaking process beyond his on-screen performance. Speaking about the production, Partridge said he welcomed the chance to collaborate creatively in his dual role as actor and first-time producer.
“Our aim being to make the film for ourselves, as young people to enjoy first and foremost,” Partridge said, explaining the team’s intention to create a story that feels specific to its characters while retaining wider appeal.
Partridge’s previous screen credits include Enola Holmes, Pistol, Disclaimer and Netflix’s historical drama House of Guinness. His involvement in One Last Summer represents a new stage in his career, expanding his responsibilities into producing while continuing his work as an actor.
Citron serves as both writer and director, collaborating with Partridge through their newly established production company. Citron previously worked on Enola Holmes, bringing the two collaborators together again for a project centred on young people and their relationships.
Describing his approach to the film, Citron said he wanted to capture the intensity and intimacy of youth, including the excitement of attraction and the insecurity, fear and grief that can complicate relationships during this period of life. These themes inform a story in which a weekend away becomes an opportunity for its characters to reassess themselves and their connections with others.
The producing team includes Partridge and Citron through Pipe Dream Films, Maya Nurmohamed and Saskia Steinberg through Blue Lobster Productions, and Jim Parks, known for producing The Christophers.
With filming now complete in Tuscany, One Last Summer moves into its next stage of development. The project brings together a young cast and an emerging creative team for a coming-of-age story about friendship, fleeting connections and the uncertainties of growing up. While further casting details and a release date remain unannounced, the film marks a career milestone for Partridge as he takes on producing responsibilities alongside his acting work.
