India Box Office: Spider-Man: Brand New Day Crosses ₹500 Crore in Second Weekend

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Becomes No. 1 in India

Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued its record-breaking run at the India box office, collecting approximately ₹80.7 crore in its second weekend. The strong hold has pushed the film past the ₹500 crore gross mark in India, making it the highest-grossing Hollywood film in the country’s box office history and taking it past Avatar: The Way of Water.

The second weekend itself proved historic. The film’s net collections jumped from approximately ₹15 crore on Friday to ₹31 crore on Saturday, a 107% increase, before maintaining strong demand through Sunday. The film has continued to draw audiences across multiple language versions, with English remaining the dominant version while Hindi, Tamil and Telugu also contributing to its overall performance. According to the supplied figures, the film has now played across more than 163,000 shows in India, while nearly 8 million tickets have been processed through BookMyShow.

The performance places Brand New Day in a category of its own among Hollywood releases in India. Having already established a new benchmark with its opening, the film has now converted that initial momentum into a sustained second-weekend run, taking its cumulative gross beyond a level no Hollywood film has previously reached in the country.

In second place, the Tamil action drama DC collected approximately ₹20.95 crore in its opening weekend. The result gave the film one of the strongest starts among the week’s Indian releases and highlighted the continued strength of major Tamil-language titles across the national market.

The supernatural horror comedy Korean Kanakaraju, starring Varun Tej, opened in third place with approximately ₹13.20 crore. The film’s opening was supported by interest surrounding its horror-comedy premise and the reported special appearance by Prabhas.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continued to show strong legs in its fourth weekend, collecting approximately ₹12.68 crore in India. Its cumulative domestic total has now crossed ₹180 crore, extending what has been a strong theatrical run for the Hollywood epic. The film’s performance has been supported by word of mouth and demand for premium-format screenings.

The new Malayalam release Thudakkam opened in fifth place with approximately ₹10.40 crore, emerging as the strongest Malayalam debut of the weekend. The film’s opening gives it a solid starting point as it moves into its first full week of release.

Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, took sixth place with approximately ₹7.15 crore in its third weekend. The film has now moved well past the ₹100 crore mark in India and continues to maintain its strongest performance in Tamil Nadu.

The new Hindi family comedy Ohh My Dog, starring Pankaj Tripathi, opened to approximately ₹3.25 crore, while the Punjabi comedy Yaar Jigree Kasooti Degree debuted with ₹3.19 crore. Both films entered the market against an unusually strong run from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, limiting their ability to make a larger impact during the opening weekend.

Among the other holdovers, Dhamaal 4 collected approximately ₹2.4 crore in its fifth weekend. GDN added ₹2.69 crore, while Ayogya 2 collected ₹2.26 crore. Further down the chart, Hanuman Ansh earned approximately ₹0.68 crore, while Get Set Go added ₹0.37 crore.

The weekend also demonstrated the breadth of India’s theatrical market, with films in Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, Hindi and Telugu finding audiences alongside the dominant Hollywood release. While Spider-Man: Brand New Day has separated itself from the rest of the field in terms of scale, the performance of regional releases across different markets shows continued audience demand across languages and genres.

With major releases such as Ramayana: Part 1 and Avengers: Doomsday still ahead on the 2026 calendar, the Indian theatrical market has several more large-scale releases to track through the remainder of the year. For now, however, Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains the dominant story, having crossed ₹500 crore gross and established a new benchmark for Hollywood releases in India.
