Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is just one record away from completing its remarkable climb to the top of the Indian box office. After overtaking Project Hail Mary and Michael in just five days, the epic is now closing in on Obsession, with trade analysts expecting it to become the highest-grossing Hollywood release of 2026 in India within the next 24 to 48 hours.
The film has already amassed ₹77.65 crore net in its first five days, making it the second-biggest Hollywood release of the year in India. The only title still ahead is Obsession, which concluded its theatrical run with ₹84.73 crore net. With Wednesday’s collections projected to finish between ₹8 crore and ₹9 crore, The Odyssey has a realistic chance of breaking the record on Day 6 itself. Even if it narrowly misses the mark, industry estimates suggest the milestone is virtually guaranteed by Thursday (Day 7).
What makes the achievement particularly impressive is the pace of the film’s run. Project Hail Mary finished its entire theatrical run at ₹75.27 crore net, while Michael concluded with ₹71 crore. The Odyssey surpassed both lifetime totals in just five days and now finds itself within touching distance of the year’s biggest Hollywood hit.
The film’s weekday hold has also been exceptional. After opening with ₹17.40 crore on Friday, collections climbed to ₹22 crore on Saturday before holding almost steady with ₹21.90 crore on Sunday. Rather than experiencing the sharp weekday drop often associated with big-budget releases, The Odyssey remained strong with ₹8 crore on Monday and ₹8.35 crore on Tuesday, reflecting sustained audience interest and strong word of mouth.
India Box Office (Net Collections):
Day 1 (Friday): ₹17.40 crore
Day 2 (Saturday): ₹22.00 crore
Day 3 (Sunday): ₹21.90 crore
Day 4 (Monday): ₹8.00 crore
Day 5 (Tuesday): ₹8.35 crore
Total (5 Days): ₹77.65 crore
The strong run has been driven by Christopher Nolan’s growing appeal among Indian audiences following the success of Oppenheimer. Premium formats, particularly IMAX and other large-format screens, continue to generate significant business, while multiplex chains across major cities have maintained healthy occupancy levels during the weekdays—an encouraging sign ahead of the film’s second weekend.

With another weekend still ahead before Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theatres, The Odyssey appears well positioned not only to claim the title of 2026’s highest-grossing Hollywood release in India but also to extend its lead in the weeks that follow. Whether the record falls on Wednesday or Thursday, Nolan’s epic has already established itself as the fastest-rising Hollywood success story of the year in the Indian market.
