X-Men: Everything We Know About Marvel’s New Mutant Team

Marvel Studios has revealed the faces behind its new X-Men team. During D23, the studio confirmed seven principal cast members for its upcoming mutant movie, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister. The announcement gives audiences the clearest picture yet of how Marvel is building its own X-Men lineup within the MCU, bringing together several of the franchise’s most recognisable characters while introducing new faces to this next chapter.

x-men cast
Sadie Sink as Jean Grey

Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey, one of the most recognisable X-Men characters. Jean is a powerful mutant with telepathic and telekinetic abilities, making her one of the team’s most important figures. Her MCU journey has already begun, as Sink appeared as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This connects her directly to the MCU before the X-Men movie arrives. Sink became widely known through Stranger Things, where she played Max Mayfield. She also appeared in the Fear Street trilogy and The Whale.

X-men cast
Kit Connor as Scott Summers

Kit Connor takes on Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops. He is one of the X-Men’s key leaders and is recognised for his powerful optic blasts, which he controls through his trademark visor. Bringing Cyclops into the MCU alongside Jean Grey establishes two important members of the new team. Connor is best known for playing Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper. He has also appeared in Rocketman.

x-men cast
Christopher Abbott will be the fourth actor to play Charles Xavier aka Professor X

Christopher Abbott plays Charles Xavier, or Professor X, the founder and mentor of the X-Men. Xavier is a powerful telepath who has traditionally helped young mutants understand their abilities while guiding them as a team. His presence gives Marvel’s new lineup one of its most important figures. Abbott is known for acclaimed projects including First Man, Poor Things, Sanctuary and the television series The Sinner.

x-men cast
Samara Weaving as Emma Frost

Samara Weaving joins the film as Emma Frost, a powerful telepath with a long history in X-Men stories. Emma is also known for her ability to transform her body into diamond, giving her both psychic and physical strength. Her inclusion adds another major mutant to the lineup. Weaving is widely recognised for Ready or Not, The Babysitter and Scream.

x-men cast
Inde Navarrette plays Rogue

Inde Navarrette plays Rogue, whose unusual mutant power allows her to absorb another person’s abilities and memories through physical contact. This makes Rogue one of the more distinctive characters in X-Men mythology and gives her a unique place within the new team. Navarrette is known for 13 Reasons Why and Superman & Lois, where she played Sarah Cushing.

x-men cast
Maya Boyd as Storm

Maya Boyd takes on Storm, one of the X-Men’s most recognisable members. Storm can control and manipulate weather, giving her an ability that has made her one of the team’s most powerful heroes throughout Marvel comics. Boyd is a rising performer whose previous work includes the stage production of & Juliet.

x-men cast
Adam Driver plays Nathaniel Milbury

Adam Driver plays Nathaniel Milbury, also known as Mister Sinister. Driver is not playing Magneto. Mister Sinister is a major X-Men villain whose obsession with mutant genetics has made him one of the franchise’s distinctive antagonists. Marvel has not revealed exactly how he will fit into this story. Driver is known for Star Wars, Marriage Story, BlacKkKlansman and Ferrari.

Together, these seven actors establish a fresh X-Men lineup for the MCU. Jean Grey, Cyclops, Professor X, Storm and Rogue have all been portrayed in earlier X-Men films, but Marvel is now introducing its own versions. Emma Frost and Mister Sinister further expand the mutant world while creating a different lineup for this new era.

Jake Schreier is directing the film, with Marvel setting its theatrical release for May 5, 2028. The studio has not yet revealed the complete cast, costumes or detailed story, while the team’s larger role in the MCU remains undisclosed.

For now, the D23 reveal provides a clear starting point: seven confirmed actors, seven established characters and a new X-Men team ready to become part of Marvel’s expanding cinematic universe. There is still plenty left to learn, but Marvel has now given audiences a much clearer picture of who will lead its next mutant chapter.
