Advance ticket sales for Dhurandhar: The Revenge are already signaling a massive start at the box office, with the sequel generating record-breaking numbers days before its theatrical release. Directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film is scheduled to open worldwide on March 19, but early booking trends suggest it could become one of the biggest Bollywood launches of the year.

Advance bookings for the film began on March 7 shortly after the release of its explosive trailer, which quickly amplified the excitement surrounding the sequel. Within the first 24 hours of bookings opening, the film sold approximately 87,000 tickets on BookMyShow alone, reflecting strong demand across major markets. By the morning of March 9, those numbers had surged significantly, with more than 1.5 lakh tickets sold on BookMyShow and over two lakh tickets sold across all ticketing platforms nationwide.

According to box office tracking portal Sacnilk, the film’s preview shows alone have already sold 2.06 lakh tickets across India, generating approximately ₹12.29 crore in gross revenue. The majority of these sales come from the Hindi version, although dubbed versions are also showing promising traction. The Tamil dubbed version, for instance, has already generated nearly ₹10 lakh from preview bookings, indicating expanding regional interest in the franchise.

These early figures have already placed Dhurandhar: The Revenge in record territory. The film has surpassed the previous benchmark for Bollywood premiere collections set by Stree 2, which had earned around ₹10 crore through preview shows. With premiere screenings still several days away, trade analysts expect the total preview revenue to climb even higher in the coming days.

The film arrives as the sequel to the blockbuster Dhurandhar, which became a box office phenomenon following its release last December. The original film reportedly grossed more than ₹1000 crore worldwide, transforming the espionage thriller into one of Bollywood’s biggest modern franchises. That enormous success has created intense anticipation for the follow-up, which continues the story on a much larger scale.

In the sequel, Ranveer Singh reprises his role as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, an Indian intelligence operative who operates under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari while infiltrating criminal networks in Pakistan. The story is expected to delve deeper into the character’s past and his transformation into a key figure in the volatile underworld of Karachi’s Lyari district.

The recently released trailer provided audiences with a glimpse of the escalating stakes. The narrative picks up after the death of the powerful gangster Rehman Dakait, played by Akshaye Khanna, whose absence creates a power vacuum in Lyari’s criminal ecosystem. Ranveer Singh’s character emerges as a central figure in the struggle for control, while also confronting personal motivations rooted in revenge.

The film’s ensemble cast further elevates expectations. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the sequel features Sanjay Dutt reprising his role as the aggressive police officer SP Chaudhary Aslam, a character inspired by real-life Pakistani encounter specialist Chaudhary Aslam Khan. Arjun Rampal appears as Major Iqbal, a powerful ISI official who serves as one of the film’s primary antagonists. The cast also includes R. Madhavan and Sara Arjun, whose character Yalina undergoes a dramatic transformation in the sequel.

Beyond the story and performances, the film’s marketing campaign has played a key role in driving early demand. The trailer, released earlier this month, revealed several major plot developments while showcasing high-intensity action sequences and the evolving rivalry between the film’s central characters. The shift in the film’s tagline—from the original film’s “Nazar Aur Sabr” to the new “Honsla Eendhan Badla”—also hints at a darker, revenge-driven narrative.

The music has also emerged as a highlight of the promotional campaign. Composer Shashwat Sachdev returns to the franchise, with the Punjabi track “Aari Aari,” sung by Navraj Hans and written by Irshad Kamil, becoming a standout element in the trailer. The energetic song accompanies key moments in the promotional footage, emphasizing the film’s tone of rising power and escalating conflict.

Another factor working in the film’s favor is its strategic release timing. Dhurandhar: The Revenge is scheduled to arrive during a festive window that includes celebrations such as Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and Eid. Historically, Bollywood releases during such holiday periods benefit from increased footfall in theaters, often translating into larger opening weekend numbers.

With strong advance bookings already recorded and several days still remaining before premiere shows begin, industry observers believe the sequel is well positioned to deliver one of the biggest openings in recent Bollywood history. The scale of early ticket sales suggests that audience enthusiasm for the franchise remains exceptionally high.

As the countdown to release day continues, Dhurandhar: The Revenge appears ready to build on the legacy of its predecessor. If current trends hold, the film could not only dominate the box office upon arrival but also reinforce the growing strength of franchise-driven storytelling in the Hindi film industry.
