Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas to Star in Erotic Thriller Palm Grove

Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas are attached to star in the upcoming erotic thriller Palm Grove.

Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas are attached to star in Palm Grove, a new erotic thriller package that Chernin Entertainment is taking to buyers this weekend. The project will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó from an original screenplay by James Morosini.

According to reports, the package is expected to attract significant interest in the marketplace given its high-profile creative team and star-powered cast. Chernin Entertainment recently scored a major sale with the romantic comedy One Month Mark, which landed at Apple Original Films following a competitive bidding situation, and the company is now hoping to generate similar momentum with Palm Grove.

Set in Miami’s most exclusive neighborhood, Palm Grove follows a seemingly perfect wife who discovers her husband’s secret double life. The revelation triggers a seductive power struggle that transforms betrayal into a dangerous game of manipulation, desire, and control.

The screenplay was written by Morosini, who is also attached to executive produce the film. Kornél Mundruczó will direct, while Peter Chernin, David Ready, and Brady Fujikawa will produce on behalf of Chernin Entertainment.

The project brings together two of Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses. Hudson is coming off one of the strongest periods of her career following her acclaimed performance in Song Sung Blue, which earned her Academy Award, SAG Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe nominations. She also stars in and executive produces Netflix’s hit comedy series Running Point, which has already been renewed for a third season. Hudson is currently filming Hello & Paris opposite Javier Bardem.

De Armas likewise continues to build an impressive résumé of high-profile projects. The actress received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Blonde and earned a Golden Globe nomination for Knives Out. Most recently, she starred in Lionsgate’s action film Ballerina and previously appeared in the James Bond film No Time to Die.

Behind the camera, Mundruczó brings considerable prestige to the project. The Hungarian filmmaker is best known internationally for directing films such as Pieces of a Woman, White God, and Jupiter’s Moon. His involvement suggests that Palm Grove could blend the tension of a psychological thriller with the character-driven storytelling that has become a hallmark of his work.

Morosini, meanwhile, gained widespread attention with the critically acclaimed comedy-drama I Love My Dad, which premiered at SXSW and established him as one of the industry’s emerging writer-directors. With Palm Grove, he shifts into more provocative territory while retaining creative control as both writer and executive producer.

The announcement comes during a particularly successful period for Chernin Entertainment. The company has recently been behind several notable projects across film and television. Horror phenomenon Backrooms has grossed more than $260 million worldwide, while action thriller Apex climbed to the top of Netflix’s Global English Film chart following its release. On the television side, Man on Fire debuted as Netflix’s most-watched series globally after its launch earlier this year.

With the attachment of Hudson, de Armas, Mundruczó, and Morosini, Palm Grove enters the marketplace as one of the more high-profile film packages currently seeking a buyer. No studio or distributor has yet been announced, but industry attention is expected to be strong as the project begins its sales process.
