The cast of Warner Bros.’ upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel continues to grow. Monica Barbaro is now in talks to join Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie’s Ocean’s Eleven prequel, which is currently in production and scheduled to arrive in theatres on June 25, 2027.

This is not just another entry in the franchise but a proper prequel set in the 1960s. Bradley Cooper and Margot Robbie play a couple at the height of their powers as they attempt to pull off a massive heist during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix. Set in a completely different era from the original films, the prequel offers a fresh backdrop while remaining connected to the world audiences already know. Wagner Moura is set to play the villain, adding another major name to the ensemble.

What makes the film even more interesting is that Bradley Cooper is not just starring in it but also directing the project. An earlier draft of the screenplay was written by Carrie Solomon, while Cooper is also producing alongside Margot Robbie through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. It is a major undertaking, and the fact that Cooper is leading the project both on screen and behind the camera highlights his commitment to bringing the prequel to life.

Monica Barbaro has enjoyed a remarkable rise over the past few years. She first broke through to mainstream audiences in 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick, where she played pilot Natasha “Phoenix” Trace opposite Tom Cruise. She later earned an Academy Award nomination for portraying Joan Baez in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, one of the most acclaimed films of 2024. Up next, she stars opposite Callum Turner in the romantic comedy One Night Only, which Universal is set to release in August. Joining the Ocean’s Eleven prequel marks another significant step in a career that continues to gain momentum.

On the production side, LuckyChap Entertainment—Margot Robbie’s production company run alongside Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Bronte Payne—is producing the film together with Bobby Wilhelm. The executive producer lineup includes Jay Roach, Lee Isaac Chung, Gary Ross, Michelle Graham, Ashley Jay Sandberg, and Olivia Milch, bringing together an experienced team with an extensive background in major studio productions.

The Ocean’s franchise has remained one of Warner Bros.’ most successful properties for more than two decades. It began with Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 remake of Ocean’s Eleven, starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon, which reimagined the 1960 Rat Pack classic. The success of the film led to Ocean’s Twelve in 2004 and Ocean’s Thirteen in 2007. The franchise later expanded with 2018’s Ocean’s Eight, directed by Gary Ross and led by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway. Collectively, the films have grossed more than $1.4 billion worldwide, making it one of Warner Bros.’ most enduring franchises.

Production on the prequel is already underway, with Warner Bros. assembling an increasingly high-profile cast and creative team. If Monica Barbaro’s deal is finalized, she will join Bradley Cooper, Margot Robbie, Wagner Moura, and the rest of the ensemble as the studio prepares the film for its scheduled June 25, 2027 theatrical release.
