Better Class (Altas capacidades) — Release Date: 27 March 2026. Directed by Víctor García León, starring Israel Elejalde and Marian Álvarez. Co-written by Borja Cobeaga, the Spanish-language comedy-drama is produced by Buenapinta Media, Sayaka Producciones, Colosé Producciones, Think Studio and Altas Capacidades Película AIE, in association with Cimarrón (The Mediapro Studio).

Set within contemporary Spanish middle-class society, Better Class follows Alicia and Gonzalo, a couple who identify an opportunity to elevate their social standing by enrolling their son Fer in a prestigious secular school. Although the move is framed as a decision for their child’s educational future, it simultaneously reflects their own aspirations for upward mobility and acceptance within elite circles.

The narrative examines themes of class identity, social ambition and parental projection through a comedic yet observational lens. As Alicia and Gonzalo navigate new social environments, the film explores the subtle dynamics of privilege, performance and belonging. The tension between authentic intention and social pretense forms the central dramatic arc, positioning the story as both satire and character study.

Israel Elejalde and Marian Álvarez portray the central couple, supported by performances from Juan Diego Botto, Natalia Reyes, Pilar Castro and Suso Nanclares as Fer. The screenplay blends situational comedy with social commentary, aligning with Víctor García León’s grounded storytelling approach.

Principal photography began on 10 February 2025, with shooting locations including a school in La Moraleja. Eva Díaz Iglesias served as director of photography, using an Arri Alexa 35 camera paired with Arri Ensō lenses to shape the film’s visual tone.

Better Class screened in the main competitive section of the 29th Málaga Film Festival in March 2025. It is scheduled for theatrical release in Spain on 27 March 2026, distributed by BTeam Pictures.
