Bhooth Bangla — Release Date: 15 May 2026. Directed by Priyadarshan, the Hindi-language comedy horror film stars Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, and Akshay Kumar under Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the film blends supernatural intrigue with situational comedy, rooted in classic Priyadarshan-style ensemble chaos.
Set largely within and around a sprawling, old mansion, Bhooth Bangla follows a series of unexplained and increasingly bizarre events that unsettle its inhabitants. What begins as an ordinary setting gradually transforms into a space charged with eerie presences, mistaken identities, and comic misunderstandings. As characters navigate the house’s unsettling history, the line between the supernatural and the absurd grows thinner, creating a narrative that thrives on timing, character dynamics, and escalating confusion.
Akshay Kumar anchors the film in a role that balances physical comedy with controlled eccentricity, while Tabu brings restraint and gravitas to the ensemble. Wamiqa Gabbi’s character adds realized emotional texture, positioned against a backdrop of escalating chaos. Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, frequent collaborators in the genre, contribute layered comic performances driven by dialogue rhythms and situational irony rather than slapstick alone.
The film’s visual design plays a key role in establishing tone. Production designer Sabu Cyril constructs large-scale interiors that emphasize scale, shadows, and architectural mystery. Several sequences were filmed at heritage locations including Chomu Palace in Rajasthan and elaborate sets created at Ramoji Film City, reinforcing the haunted-house aesthetic. Cinematic spaces are treated as active participants in the narrative rather than passive backdrops.
Music composed by Pritam supports the tonal balance between suspense and humor, complementing the film’s pacing without overwhelming it. Bhooth Bangla consciously revisits the tradition of Hindi comedy horror, prioritizing character-driven humor, ensemble interplay, and atmospheric staging over jump-scare-driven thrills.
Positioned as a mainstream theatrical entertainer, Bhooth Bangla marks Priyadarshan’s return to the genre after a long gap and reunites several performers associated with some of Hindi cinema’s most enduring comedy successes.
