Karuppu — Release Date: 14 May 2026. Directed by RJ Balaji, starring Suriya, Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji and Indrans. Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the Tamil-language action drama is positioned as a character-driven narrative set within a socially charged backdrop.

Karuppu follows the story of Saravanan, a man whose identity and journey are shaped by conflict, justice and moral dilemmas. The narrative unfolds within a framework that blends action with social commentary, exploring themes of power, law and individual resistance. Through its central character, the film examines the tension between institutional authority and personal conviction, situating its drama within a contemporary yet rooted setting.

Suriya leads the film in a dual-layered role as Saravanan, also associated with the identity of Karuppuswamy, suggesting a narrative that balances realism with symbolic undertones. Trisha Krishnan plays Kamakshi, marking another collaboration between the two actors. The supporting cast includes RJ Balaji, Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada and Yogi Babu, contributing to the film’s ensemble-driven storytelling.

Directed by RJ Balaji, who also co-wrote the screenplay with a team of writers, the film was initially developed under the working title Suriya 45. The project marks Balaji’s collaboration with Suriya following the actor’s previous ventures with Dream Warrior Pictures. Cinematography is handled by G. K. Vishnu, while editing is by R. Kalaivanan.

Principal photography began in November 2024 in Pollachi, with subsequent schedules across Coimbatore, Chennai, Hyderabad and other locations. Large-scale sets were constructed for key sequences, including song and action portions, reflecting the film’s production scale.

The music is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, with songs released ahead of the film’s theatrical rollout. Karuppu is scheduled for worldwide release on 14 May 2026, with dubbed versions planned for multiple markets, positioning it as a major Tamil commercial release.
