The story follows a journalist, Charlie Cannon, and his family, whose lives are disrupted when their young daughter mysteriously disappears in the desert. Years later, the child unexpectedly returns, setting off a chain of unsettling events that challenge the family’s understanding of reality.

As the narrative unfolds, the apparent reunion evolves into a disturbing situation marked by unexplained occurrences and psychological tension. The film situates its horror within the emotional and relational dynamics of a fractured family, blending traditional supernatural elements with a modern storytelling approach.

Jack Reynor plays Charlie Cannon, with Laia Costa portraying his wife Larissa. Natalie Grace appears as their daughter Katie, whose disappearance and return form the core of the film’s premise. The cast also includes May Calamawy, Verónica Falcón and others in supporting roles, contributing to the film’s ensemble structure.

Written and directed by Lee Cronin, the project was developed as a reimagining rather than a direct continuation of previous Mummy films. It is produced by James Wan and Jason Blum, bringing together two prominent production banners associated with contemporary horror cinema.

Principal photography began on 24 March 2025, with filming taking place across Ireland and Spain. The production concluded on 25 June 2025. The film is positioned within a modern horror landscape, emphasizing atmosphere and narrative tension.

The Mummy is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on 17 April 2026 by Warner Bros. Pictures, with an IMAX rollout expected.
