Son of Sardaar 2 (August 1, 2025) is a Hindi-language comedy film directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and produced jointly by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, N.R. Pachisia, and Pravin Talreja. A standalone sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar, the film blends slapstick humor, family drama, and cultural satire, delivering a story that examines love, identity, and the lengths people go to for acceptance and approval.
The narrative follows Jassi Singh Randhawa (Ajay Devgn), a cheerful and good-hearted man who has spent over a decade in India waiting to join his wife, Dimple, in Scotland. Upon finally receiving his visa, Jassi arrives in the UK only to learn that Dimple wants a divorce. Heartbroken but undeterred, he resolves to stay and repair their relationship with the help of Rabia.
Unexpectedly, Jassi becomes embroiled in a new challenge: helping Saba, a young woman in love with Goggi, the son of the powerful businessman-turned-gangster Raja Sandhu (Ravi Kishan). Raja, committed to family honor and tradition, strongly opposes their union due to Saba’s background. To assist the couple, Jassi and Rabia devise a comedic ruse: Jassi pretends to be a retired war hero, while Rabia poses as his Indian wife. The duo must impress Raja and gain his approval, navigating increasingly chaotic scenarios while fending off the suspicions of Raja’s brothers, Titu and Tony, who are determined to unmask Jassi’s deception.
The film weaves comedy with moments of heartfelt emotion as Jassi and Rabia confront their own pasts and the evolving dynamics of their relationship. The ensemble cast, including Sanjay Mishra and the late Mukul Dev in a posthumous role, adds depth to the story with colorful performances, enhancing the comedic timing and dramatic beats.
Principal photography took place between July 2024 and early 2025, with shooting locations spanning Edinburgh, London, and Chandigarh, India. Despite the scenic international locales and elaborate production design, the film received negative reviews from critics and performed poorly at the box office.
Son of Sardaar 2 explores themes of love, honor, and familial expectation through a humorous lens, delivering a mix of slapstick, situational comedy, and emotional moments, culminating in a dramatic and comedic climax where loyalty, deception, and romance collide.
