Regina Hall Joins Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage in Olivia Wilde’s Holiday Comedy Naughty

Regina Hall joins Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage in Naughty

Regina Hall has joined the cast of Naughty, Universal Pictures’ upcoming holiday comedy directed by Olivia Wilde, according to Deadline. She will star alongside Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage, and the film is set to open in theatres on November 5, 2027.

The film follows Mallory, played by Aniston, a mother trying to win custody of her son from her manipulative ex. According to the logline, her only hope is to find Santa Claus, played by Dinklage, and convince him to testify at her divorce hearing. That quest takes her all the way to the North Pole.

Regina Hall’s character has not been officially confirmed. Sources told Deadline that she plays a friend who joins Mallory on her journey north, though this has not been verified by the studio. Universal has not shared any more details about the part.

Regina Hall joins a lineup that already includes Aniston and Dinklage, along with Chase Sui Wonders, who is best known for the Emmy-winning series The Studio. Aniston is currently starring in the Emmy-nominated drama The Morning Show and is also attached to I’m Glad My Mom Died, an adaptation of Jeannette McCurdy’s bestselling memoir.

Regina Hall is best known for her comedy work, including the Scary Movie franchise, where she plays Brenda Meeks. She most recently returned to the role in Scary Movie 6, which became the year’s top-grossing R-rated comedy. Her other credits include Girls Trip, Support the Girls and the Best Man films. She also hosted the 2022 Oscars alongside Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes. With her addition to Naughty, Hall brings another established comedy performer to the film’s growing cast. She is represented by Independent Artist Group.

Olivia Wilde is directing Naughty from a script by Jimmy Warden, the writer of Cocaine Bear. The project began as an original spec script from Warden before being developed as the holiday comedy. It is produced by Margot Robbie’s company LuckyChap, with Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara producing alongside Wilde and Warden. Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell are overseeing the project for Universal, bringing together a production team with Wilde both directing and producing the film.

Naughty arrives during a busy stretch for Wilde. She directed the well-reviewed dinner-party comedy The Invite and also appeared as an actor in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, released this year. Her earlier directing credits include Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling. Reports have said Wilde had Aniston and Dinklage in mind for Naughty even before The Invite was finished, indicating that the project had been in development alongside her other work. The film has also been described in the industry as Bridesmaids set at the North Pole, offering a sense of the comedy’s holiday setting and ensemble-driven approach.

With Hall now on board, Naughty has built a strong comedy ensemble around its North Pole road trip. The film will open on November 5, 2027, the same day as Warner Bros.’ animated holiday film Margie Claus, setting up two very different Santa-themed releases on the same weekend.
