Orlando Bloom will receive the Filming Italy International Award on September 6 at the Lido di Venezia during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, adding a career honour to an important appearance at this year’s event. Presented as part of the eighth Filming Italy Venice Award, the recognition celebrates personalities whose talent and artistic journeys have contributed significantly to the growth and international reach of cinema and audiovisual work. Bloom will also attend Venice as part of the cast of Werner Herzog’s competition film Bucking Fastard, making the honour particularly timely during the festival, which runs from September 2 to 12.
For Bloom, the award follows a career shaped by two defining franchises and an expansion into a wide range of work. His breakthrough came with the role of Legolas in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, beginning with The Fellowship of the Ring in 2001. The character made him internationally recognisable, and he later returned to the role in The Hobbit films.
