Russell Crowe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas have joined the cast of Bluefly, a new science-fiction action thriller that is preparing to launch international pre-sales ahead of production. The project, which combines mystery, action and science fiction, has already attracted industry attention thanks to its high-profile cast and experienced creative team.

Set in the Congo, Bluefly follows a grieving United Nations translator who is drawn into a covert mission to recover a crashed aircraft that officially should not exist. Priyanka Chopra Jonas stars as the translator, while Crowe plays the commander leading the operation. As the team ventures through conflict-ridden territory controlled by armed groups, they uncover a mystery surrounding the aircraft that powerful forces are determined to keep hidden.

The film is directed by Nimród Antal from a screenplay by David Frigerio, William Eubank, and Carlyle Eubank. The creative team brings together experience across the action, thriller and science-fiction genres as the project moves toward production.

Crowe, who won the Academy Award for Gladiator, continues to balance large-scale studio productions with character-driven films. His involvement gives Bluefly another established international star to complement Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has successfully built a career across both Indian cinema and Hollywood through projects including The White Tiger, Citadel, Heads of State, and The Bluff.

The project is expected to begin international pre-sales soon, allowing distributors to acquire territorial distribution rights before filming begins. Early pre-sales are an important stage for independent productions, helping secure financing while giving buyers the opportunity to bring the film to audiences in their respective markets. The casting of Crowe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas is expected to strengthen the project’s appeal among international distributors.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin later this year on Australia’s Gold Coast. Although an official release date has not yet been announced, production is now moving ahead as the filmmakers prepare to bring the science-fiction thriller to the screen.

With an established cast, an original premise and an experienced filmmaking team behind it, Bluefly has emerged as one of the more notable independent science-fiction projects currently moving toward production. Further details, including additional casting and a release schedule, are expected as filming gets underway.
