Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan, is set to make its streaming debut on Sony LIV, the platform announced on Monday. The digital release will mark a notable milestone for the streamer, as the film becomes the first Hindi theatrical release to premiere on Sony LIV.
The sports comedy-drama, directed by R. S. Prasanna, originally hit theatres in June 2025 and went on to perform strongly at the box office while also generating positive word of mouth. Sitaare Zameen Par serves as a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par, the acclaimed film that marked Aamir Khan’s directorial debut. While the earlier film focused on the challenges faced by a child with dyslexia, the new story shifts its focus to the world of sports while retaining the emotional and inspirational themes associated with the original.
The film follows a disgraced basketball coach who is assigned community service after a legal incident and is tasked with training a team of players with intellectual disabilities. What begins as a reluctant assignment gradually transforms into a journey of self-discovery, teamwork and resilience as the coach forms a meaningful bond with the team.
Alongside Aamir Khan, the film also stars Genelia Deshmukh in a leading role, while a group of young performers portray the members of the basketball team at the heart of the story. The film’s music is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, with the background score provided by Ram Sampath.
