Filmmaker Bukola Ogunsola has dedicated five years to her upcoming film, “Something About the Briggs,” set to premiere on January 31, 2025. She shared that during this period, she couldn’t take on other projects due to the film’s demands. “It took five years of my life,” Ogunsola said. “And during that time, I couldn’t work on anything else. The funding challenges alone were enough to make anyone quit.”

The journey wasn’t easy. Ogunsola faced significant funding challenges and had to stay focused and creative despite numerous obstacles. She mentioned, “There were moments I thought this film would never see the light of day. But I believed in the story. I knew it was one worth telling, no matter how long it took.”

The film features a talented cast, including Daniel Etim-Effiong, Ariyike Owolagba, Rita Dominic, Norbert and Gloria Young, Bukky Wright, Stan Nze, Iyabo Ojo, and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman. It tells the story of a young woman torn between accepting a marriage proposal and confronting family trauma related to marriage.

On January 21, 2024, a private screening was held at IMAX Cinemas in Lekki, Lagos, attended by top actors and the film’s cast. The exclusive event took place in a private theater, showcasing the film to a select group of entertainers.

Bukola Ogunsola is known for her work on “Happy Father’s Day” (2016) and “Another Father’s Day” (2019). She has been recognized for her contributions to Nollywood and continues to make an impact with her storytelling.

“Something About the Briggs” is set to premiere on January 31, 2025, offering audiences a heartfelt exploration of love, family, and the complexities of relationships.
