‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Crosses $1 Billion in Just Six Days, Becoming the Second-Fastest Film Ever to Reach the Milestone

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Crosses $1 Billion in 6 Days

Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to rewrite the box office record books. Just six days after its worldwide release, the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios blockbuster has officially crossed $1.052 billion globally, becoming the second-fastest film in history to reach the billion-dollar milestone. Only Avengers: Endgame, which earned $1.22 billion during its opening weekend in 2019, reached the mark more quickly.

The latest milestone caps an extraordinary first week for the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed superhero film, which has repeatedly exceeded industry expectations since its record-breaking debut. The film has now earned $407.2 million domestically and $645.8 million internationally, with overseas markets accounting for 61.3% of its worldwide total. Together, those figures have propelled Brand New Day to a global total of $1.053 billion, making it the fourth billion-dollar release of 2026 and reinforcing Spider-Man’s position as one of cinema’s most valuable franchises.

Crossing $1 billion in six days is only the latest achievement in what has already become one of the most remarkable box office launches in modern cinema. The film previously shattered the record for the biggest domestic opening weekend in history, earning $360.09 million to surpass Avengers: Endgame‘s long-standing $357.1 million record. It also delivered the largest preview haul ever with $72 million, the highest-grossing opening day with $169.8 million, and became the fastest film to reach $400 million at the North American box office.

Monday’s performance added another milestone, with Brand New Day collecting $47 million domestically—the biggest Monday in U.S. and Canadian box office history—lifting its North American total to $407.2 million in just four days.

While North America has contributed a record-breaking $407.2 million, international audiences have once again proved essential to Spider-Man’s global success. Overseas markets have generated $645.8 million, representing nearly two-thirds of the film’s worldwide earnings.

China leads all international territories with $121 million, making it the film’s biggest overseas market by a considerable margin. The United Kingdom follows with $49 million, ahead of Mexico ($38.3 million) and India ($31.8 million), where the film delivered the biggest opening ever for a Hollywood release. France ($26.6 million), South Korea ($25 million), Brazil ($23.8 million), Australia ($21.4 million), Germany ($20 million) and Italy ($18.2 million) round out the top ten international markets.

Beyond those headline territories, Brand New Day established opening weekend records across numerous countries, including France, India, Brazil, Spain, Peru, Colombia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Türkiye, Ecuador, Belgium, Portugal, South Africa, Kenya and Mongolia, while also setting regional opening records throughout Latin America and the Middle East.

According to Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group chairman Tom Rothman, the film’s success came from emphasizing emotion over spectacle.

Rather than centering its campaign on action sequences or multiverse surprises, Sony built its marketing around Peter Parker’s emotional journey and the themes of friendship, hope and human connection.

“We led with emotion,” Rothman told Deadline, explaining that audiences respond most strongly to stories that make them feel something rather than simply showcasing visual spectacle.

That creative approach also extended to the film itself. Unlike Spider-Man: No Way Home, which relied heavily on nostalgia and multiverse storytelling, Brand New Day places Peter Parker at the center of a more personal narrative while introducing a morally complex antagonist in Jean Grey, portrayed by Sadie Sink. Instead of presenting a conventional villain, the film explores a character whose tragedy becomes central to Peter’s journey, giving audiences an emotional conflict alongside the action.

Sony supported the film with one of the most ambitious marketing campaigns ever assembled for a theatrical release.

The first trailer generated 719 million views within 24 hours, before reaching 1.1 billion views during its first four days online—the biggest trailer launch ever recorded across both the film and gaming industries. Across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and X, the campaign achieved a combined 2.86 billion social media reach before opening weekend.

The studio also invested heavily in interactive marketing. Fans explored SpideyTracker.com, one of Sony’s most-visited promotional websites, while Google Search introduced Spider-Man-themed Easter eggs and Google Maps featured a global scavenger hunt tied to the film. TikTok launched a dedicated global campaign across 48 international markets, complete with digital collectibles, creator collaborations and platform-exclusive fan experiences.

Sony also partnered with brands including Samsung, BMW, McDonald’s and Little Caesars, creating what was reported to be the largest promotional partner campaign in Hollywood history, valued at approximately $309 million before worldwide advertising costs were even factored in.

The film also benefited from one of the year’s most visible international press tours. Tom Holland and Zendaya simultaneously promoted Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, appearing together at premieres and fan events across London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Shanghai and several other international markets.

Rather than viewing the overlapping campaigns as a challenge, Rothman said Sony adjusted its strategy after discussing the schedule with Holland well in advance. The shared publicity ultimately benefited both films, with the studio believing increased enthusiasm for theatrical releases helped expand audiences rather than divide them.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige described the achievement as overwhelming, noting that Brand New Day‘s performance demonstrates the continued strength of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when audiences remain invested in its interconnected storytelling. The film’s success also provides strong momentum heading toward Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to arrive later this year.

The milestone extends beyond Marvel. Spider-Man: Brand New Day becomes the fourth film of 2026 to surpass $1 billion worldwide, joining The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Michael and Toy Story 5. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is also approaching the milestone, highlighting one of the strongest years for blockbuster filmmaking since before the pandemic.

With summer box office revenue approaching $4 billion and North American theatrical revenues once again tracking toward $10 billion for the first time since 2019, Hollywood is enjoying its strongest recovery in years.

Six days after arriving in theaters, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become far more than another Marvel blockbuster. Between its record-breaking domestic debut, extraordinary international performance, emotionally driven marketing campaign and rapid sprint to $1 billion, the film has emerged as one of the defining theatrical success stories of the post-pandemic era. As 2026 continues to deliver one blockbuster after another, Spider-Man has once again demonstrated that event cinema remains one of Hollywood’s most powerful attractions.
