Spider-Man: Brand New Day Crosses $2 Billion Worldwide in 17 Days, Becomes Sony’s Biggest Film Ever

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Becomes No. 1 in India
August 18, 2026

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide, becoming only the eighth film in history to reach the milestone and the second-fastest movie ever to do so. The Sony and Marvel Studios release reached the benchmark in 17 days, trailing only Avengers: Endgame, which crossed $2 billion in 11 days.
The latest figures put Brand New Day at approximately $2.024 billion worldwide, including $786.5 million from the U.S. and Canada and $1.238 billion from international markets. International markets account for roughly 61% of the film’s global haul, highlighting its broad overseas appeal.
The milestone comes after another strong weekend in North America. Brand New Day remained at No. 1 for a third consecutive weekend, collecting an estimated $70 million domestically. That took its North American total to approximately $785.8 million in weekend estimates before the latest update. International markets added another $118.7 million, giving the film roughly $188.7 million worldwide for the weekend.
The speed at which Brand New Day reached the $2 billion milestone places it in an extremely small group of global blockbusters. Avengers: Endgame remains the fastest film to cross $2 billion, doing so in 11 days, while Brand New Day needed 17 days to reach the same mark.
The achievement places the film alongside titles including Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War in the exclusive $2 billion club.
The milestone also has major implications for Sony Pictures. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has overtaken Spider-Man: No Way Home to become Sony’s highest-grossing film worldwide. No Way Home finished its theatrical run at approximately $1.92 billion worldwide, meaning Brand New Day has surpassed that figure in less than three weeks.
The film is now also the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie ever, establishing a new worldwide box office benchmark for the franchise.
Its domestic performance has been equally significant. With approximately $786.5 million in the U.S. and Canada, Brand New Day is currently the fourth-highest-grossing film in domestic box office history according to the latest figures.
The film is now within reach of the all-time domestic record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which finished with approximately $937 million. Brand New Day would need another substantial run to overtake it, while a $1 billion domestic finish remains possible but cannot yet be considered certain.
International markets have been central to the film’s success. China has emerged as one of its major territories, with the film’s Chinese gross reaching approximately $210 million according to recent reporting. Brand New Day has continued to perform strongly in the market even after the arrival of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
Overall, the film has generated approximately $1.238 billion internationally, compared with $786.5 million domestically. The distribution of its revenue underscores the scale of its global audience rather than a performance driven primarily by North America.
The $2 billion milestone follows a third weekend in which Brand New Day continued to show strong theatrical legs. Its estimated $70 million domestic weekend represented a decline of around 51% from the previous weekend, but it was still enough to keep the film at the top of the North American chart despite the arrival of several new releases.
The film added approximately $118.7 million internationally during the same weekend, bringing its estimated worldwide weekend haul to about $188.7 million.
Brand New Day is reaching the $2 billion mark during a particularly strong period for the theatrical market. The domestic summer box office has reached approximately $4.24 billion, while year-to-date domestic box office has climbed to around $6.87 billion, according to recent industry reporting.
Other major releases have also contributed to the strength of the market. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has crossed $1.2 billion worldwide, while Toy Story 5 has passed $1.1 billion, giving the summer multiple major global performers.
For Sony and Marvel, however, Spider-Man: Brand New Day stands apart. It has joined the $2 billion club faster than every film except Avengers: Endgame, surpassed No Way Home as Sony’s biggest worldwide release and established a new box office record for the Spider-Man franchise.
With its theatrical run still underway, the film’s final worldwide total will determine how high Brand New Day can climb on the all-time global box office chart.
