Red is back, and this time the famously short-tempered bird has three little troublemakers to look after. Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, offering a closer look at Red and Silver’s life as parents, a new threat to Bird Island and an expanded voice cast. Jason Sudeikis returns as Red, alongside Josh Gad as Chuck, Rachel Bloom as Silver and Danny McBride as Bomb. The film brings the familiar flock together once again as a new danger puts their island at risk. It is scheduled to open in theatres worldwide on December 23, 2026, with the Indian release listed for January 1, 2027.
One of the biggest additions to the story is Red and Silver’s growing family. The two are now raising three children: adventurous teenager Glider, voiced by Walker Scobell; creative daughter June, voiced by Emma Myers; and baby Olly, voiced by Psalm West. The trailer introduces the different demands of family life as Red attempts to manage a teenager, a middle-schooler and a hatchling under the same roof. His responsibilities as a parent, however, are interrupted when a new threat puts the island in danger and calls the birds back into action.
The family also has a pet spider named Fuzzy, voiced by James Austin Johnson. The addition gives Red another responsibility alongside his three children, adding to the domestic complications presented in the trailer. The film’s official description captures the central premise through Red’s dual challenge: surviving fatherhood while saving the world. The character who became known for his temper and reluctance to trust others must now navigate the everyday demands of raising a family while confronting another threat to his community.
The returning characters remain an important part of the film’s appeal. Josh Gad reprises his role as Chuck, whose fast-talking personality has been a familiar part of the franchise, while Danny McBride returns as the easily startled Bomb. Rachel Bloom is back as Silver, joining Sudeikis as the story explores the next stage of their characters’ lives. Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox, the comedy duo behind Smosh, also return as Hal and Bubbles, roles they voiced in the earlier films. Their presence maintains continuity with the previous instalments, while the introduction of Red and Silver’s children brings a new family dynamic to the established group.
The supporting voice cast is considerably expanded, bringing together performers from film, television, comedy and digital entertainment. Keke Palmer, Lily James, Tim Robinson, Marcello Hernández, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser and Sam Richardson join the ensemble. Internet personalities MrBeast and Salish Matter are also part of the cast. While the announcement identifies these performers as members of the voice ensemble, not every supporting actor has been publicly assigned a specific character. Their names should therefore be treated as cast announcements rather than confirmed character credits.
Psalm West’s involvement is another notable addition. Voicing Olly, the youngest of Red and Silver’s three children, he makes his voice-acting debut with the film. His casting adds another new performer to the franchise’s established voice ensemble, as the story introduces a younger generation of characters alongside the returning birds.
Music also features prominently in the new trailer. It includes “Sun Showers”, a new song by JISOO, the BLACKPINK singer. The track provides a musical highlight for the trailer and adds to the film’s promotional campaign. Separately, Heitor Pereira is composing the original score. Pereira returns after working on the first two Angry Birds films, continuing his association with the animated franchise. The distinction between the two musical contributions is important: JISOO performs the featured song heard in the trailer, while Pereira is responsible for the film’s original score.
Behind the scenes, John Rice directs the third instalment from a screenplay by Thurop Van Orman. Rice also directed the first Angry Birds Movie, while Van Orman wrote The Angry Birds Movie 2. Their involvement brings together filmmakers with previous experience in the franchise as it moves into its next chapter.
The production brings together Rovio Entertainment, the company behind the original games, SEGA and Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, alongside Flywheel Media, One Cool Group and dentsu. DNEG Animation is handling the storyboards, art development and animation, while Paramount Pictures is distributing the film. The combination of the companies involved connects the property’s origins in mobile gaming with its continuing development as a theatrical animation franchise.
The first Angry Birds Movie arrived in 2016, followed by its sequel in 2019. Together, the two films earned more than $500 million worldwide. Both grew out of Rovio’s popular mobile-game series, which built an international following around colourful birds, green pigs and a slingshot-based game mechanic. The franchise subsequently established a recognisable group of characters and a screen identity that extended beyond the original games.
With the third film, the familiar characters return in a different stage of their lives. Red and Silver’s children introduce a new generation into the story, while the returning flock provides continuity with the earlier films. The central conflict also brings the characters together again, placing the responsibilities of family life alongside the need to protect their island. This combination of familiar characters and new family relationships forms the main direction revealed by the trailer.
With Red’s family now part of the flock, an expanded voice cast, JISOO’s new song and Heitor Pereira returning to compose the score, The Angry Birds Movie 3 introduces several additions to the animated franchise. The film’s central premise gives Red a different kind of challenge from the ones audiences have seen before. The bird who once struggled to control his anger must now keep his cool while raising three children and helping save the world. The sequel is scheduled to reach worldwide theatres on December 23, 2026, followed by its listed Indian release on January 1, 2027.
