Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey made a thunderous entry at the Indian box office, debuting with ₹61.30 crore net to comfortably top the weekend charts and register the biggest Hollywood opening of 2026. The epic not only outperformed industry expectations but also overshadowed a strong second weekend from Dhamal 4, which continued its run despite seeing its collections fall by more than 50% from its opening weekend.
The Odyssey’s phenomenal Indian debut contributed to a spectacular $264.1 million worldwide opening, including $124.5 million domestically in North America and $139.6 million from international markets. The result marked Christopher Nolan’s biggest global opening ever, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises, while India emerged as one of the film’s strongest overseas territories with the director’s biggest opening weekend in the country.
Opening across 8,413 shows on Friday, The Odyssey collected ₹17.40 crore before growing to ₹22 crore on Saturday and holding almost perfectly with ₹21.90 crore on Sunday. Occupancy also improved throughout the weekend, rising from 48.7% on Friday to 54.9% on Sunday, while the show count increased to 9,195 by Sunday, reflecting exceptional audience demand and strong word of mouth. The performance once again highlighted Nolan’s growing popularity among Indian audiences following the success of Oppenheimer and reinforced the strength of premium formats such as IMAX in the country.
Despite facing stiff competition from the Hollywood juggernaut, Dhamal 4 continued its theatrical run. The comedy collected ₹28 crore in its second weekend, taking its India net total to ₹124 crore. Although the film’s weekend business dropped by more than 50% compared to its opening frame—a normal trend for major commercial releases—it continues to perform at blockbuster levels and remains one of the biggest Hindi successes of the year.
Lenin secured third place with ₹7.27 crore in its second weekend, lifting its domestic total to ₹44 crore. Like Dhamal 4, the film witnessed a noticeable decline from its opening weekend but has maintained respectable momentum in the face of new competition.
Hollywood horror release Evil Dead Burn once again demonstrated solid staying power by earning ₹5 crore in its second weekend. The film has now collected ₹26.5 crore net in India, making it one of the better-performing international horror releases in recent months.
Among the holdovers, Alpha added ₹1.30 crore in its third weekend to reach ₹58 crore domestically. With collections slowing significantly, the film is now entering the final phase of its theatrical run. Similarly, Welcome to the Jungle earned ₹1.05 crore during its fourth weekend, taking its total to ₹133 crore. Having already emerged as a commercial success, the comedy is now gradually winding down its theatrical journey.
One of the weekend’s most remarkable stories, however, continued to be Main Wapas Aaunga. The film collected another ₹1 crore in its sixth weekend, pushing its India net total to ₹64 crore. Although its theatrical run is now nearing its conclusion, the film has established itself as one of 2026’s biggest sleeper successes. Opening to just ₹5.5 crore in its first weekend, it has gone on to earn more than eleven times that figure through sustained word of mouth—an exceptional multiplier in today’s front-loaded theatrical market.
The remaining releases failed to make any significant impact at the box office. Dastaar managed ₹1.07 crore, while Arulvaan and Oh..! Sukumari collected ₹0.84 crore and ₹0.74 crore, respectively, as both titles continued modest theatrical runs with limited audience traction.

As several earlier releases, including Alpha and Welcome to the Jungle, near the end of their theatrical journeys, the Indian box office has clearly entered a new phase dominated by Nolan’s mythological epic.
