Disney has unveiled the first major look at Frozen 3, revealing Anna and Kristoff’s wedding and introducing a mysterious new threat that takes Elsa and the group into an unexplored frozen world.
The footage was presented at Disney’s 2026 D23 event, marking the first substantial look at the third installment since concept art for the film was shown at the event two years ago.
The biggest revelation is that Anna and Kristoff will finally get married. The story follows the events of Frozen 2, in which Anna becomes Queen of Arendelle and accepts Kristoff’s proposal. Their wedding will now form an important part of the new film.
However, the celebrations do not go according to plan. The footage shows Anna and Kristoff on their wedding night before Elsa discovers a mysterious stone that appears to open a portal to another world.
According to the footage presented at D23, the portal leads to a dangerous frozen realm that is unlike anything Elsa has previously encountered. The new setting also introduces a mysterious antagonist whose identity and motivations have not yet been revealed.
The footage keeps the character largely concealed, showing a cloaked figure confronting the group after they enter the unfamiliar world. The arrival of this new threat appears to take Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and their companions far beyond Arendelle.
Elsa’s story is closely connected to the mystery. She is drawn into the new adventure through a magical butterfly, although Disney has kept the details of her journey under wraps.
The film will also retain the humour of the previous Frozen movies. Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad, has a storyline of his own and performs a new song titled “Ooooh, Samantha.” The sequence introduces a playful romantic angle for the character.
The principal voice cast is returning, with Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff and Josh Gad as Olaf.
Music will again be an important part of the franchise. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are returning as songwriters after creating some of the series’ best-known songs, including “Let It Go” and “Into the Unknown.”
Frozen 3 is scheduled to arrive exclusively in theaters on November 24, 2027.
Disney has not yet revealed the identity of the new antagonist or provided further details about the frozen world introduced in the footage. For now, the first look establishes a story that combines Anna and Kristoff’s wedding with a new mystery that takes Elsa and the group beyond the familiar world of Arendelle.
