Fuze — Release Date: April 3, 2026. Directed by David Mackenzie and written by Ben Hopkins, the film is a British crime thriller produced by Sigma Films and Anton. The ensemble cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Sam Worthington, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Saffron Hocking, Elham Ehsas, and Honor Swinton Byrne.
Set in contemporary London, the narrative unfolds after an unexploded World War II bomb is discovered at a busy construction site in the heart of the city. As authorities confirm the threat, a large-scale emergency response is initiated. Military units and metropolitan police coordinate a mass evacuation, turning central London into a restricted zone under mounting pressure and public anxiety.
Major Will Tranter (Taylor-Johnson) oversees the high-stakes operation, tasked with ensuring civilian safety while bomb disposal experts assess the decades-old device. The urgency of the evacuation creates logistical strain, media scrutiny, and widespread disruption across financial districts and residential neighborhoods.
Amid the chaos, a separate criminal agenda begins to surface. Karalis (James), a calculating bank robber, and his associate (Worthington) recognize an opportunity within the unfolding emergency. As security resources are diverted and infrastructure is destabilized, the criminal undercurrent intensifies, intersecting with the official crisis response.
Chief Superintendent Zuzana (Mbatha-Raw) navigates the dual challenge of managing public order and countering emerging threats within the evacuated zone. The film balances procedural detail with thriller momentum, examining how institutional systems respond under extreme pressure.
Principal photography began in London in July 2024, capturing urban locations central to the narrative. Fuze premiered in the Gala Presentations section at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, introducing its tension-driven storyline to international audiences ahead of its theatrical rollout.
Structured around a ticking-clock scenario, the film explores themes of crisis management, opportunism, and moral decision-making within an urban emergency. With its blend of disaster tension and crime-thriller elements, Fuze situates personal stakes against the backdrop of large-scale public peril.
