Ram Charan’s New Look Goes Viral as Sukumar’s RC17 Gets a November 1 Launch

October 28, 2026

Ram Charan’s next film is attracting attention even before filming begins. Tentatively titled RC17, the project reunites the actor with director Sukumar, whose 2018 blockbuster Rangasthalam delivered one of the most memorable performances of Ram Charan’s career. Mythri Movie Makers has scheduled the film’s launch and traditional pooja ceremony for November 1, 2026, in Hyderabad. Alongside the reunion, Ram Charan’s new long-haired look has sparked speculation among fans about the character Sukumar is preparing for him.

Rangasthalam was a significant collaboration for both the actor and the director. Its village setting, distinctive characters and Ram Charan’s performance as Chitti Babu helped establish the film as a landmark in his career. Their upcoming project has therefore generated interest well ahead of production. However, RC17 is not necessarily expected to repeat the formula of their earlier film. The story remains under wraps, leaving its setting, characters and narrative direction open to speculation. The combination of a popular star and a director known for carefully developed characters has been enough to put the project on fans’ radar.

Recent photographs of Ram Charan sporting long hair tied into a ponytail have circulated widely across social media. His beard, casual clothes and understated styling give him a noticeably different appearance from the sharply defined looks associated with his recent work. The photographs have prompted questions about whether this could be an early glimpse of his character in RC17 or an interim look before the production team finalises his appearance for the film.

Reports also suggest that the actor is working towards a leaner physique, moving away from the bulkier, athletic build he maintained for his previous role. Meanwhile, industry reports have described RC17 as a film set against a stylish urban backdrop, potentially signalling a change in the visual world audiences will see him inhabit. Neither the complete character look nor the story details have been officially revealed. The viral photographs should therefore be viewed as a possible indication of a change in appearance rather than confirmation of the character’s design.

Producer Y. Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers has confirmed November 1 as the date for the film’s formal launch in Hyderabad. A private script pooja has also reportedly taken place at the production house’s new office space as preparations continue. The upcoming ceremony will provide the project with a formal public starting point, although a launch event does not necessarily mean that principal photography will begin immediately.

Sukumar is reportedly seeking additional time to complete pre-production, with regular shooting expected to begin after Sankranthi 2027. The extended preparation period could allow the team to work further on the script, character design and other elements before filming gets underway. Reports have also pointed to a possible theatrical release in late 2027 or 2028. However, the makers have not officially announced a release date, and the production timeline remains subject to confirmation.

Mythri Movie Makers is producing RC17 in association with Sukumar Writings. Anirudh Ravichander has been widely reported as the likely composer, which would mark a change from Sukumar’s long-standing association with Devi Sri Prasad. The production team has not clearly confirmed the music credit, however, and Anirudh’s involvement should not yet be treated as an official announcement. Details about the soundtrack and its role in the film remain unknown.

The project’s early attention is currently centred on two factors: the reunion of Ram Charan and Sukumar after Rangasthalam, and the actor’s noticeably different appearance in recent photographs. The combination has encouraged speculation about the kind of character and cinematic setting the director might have in mind. Until the filmmakers disclose more information, the film’s plot, full character design and creative details remain undisclosed.

The November 1 launch is expected to bring the team another step closer to production and could provide greater clarity about the cast and creative crew. Whether Ram Charan’s long-haired appearance is connected to his character in RC17 remains to be seen. The project’s identity will become clearer as the makers share more details about the story, production and first footage. Until then, the reunion with Rangasthalam director Sukumar and the possibility of seeing Ram Charan in a different cinematic setting remain the film’s principal talking points.
