Powerhouse production banner Hombale Films has officially announced Tamil superstar Suriya’s collaboration with the production house, marking the actor’s first-ever association with the Bengaluru-based banner. Hombale Films has established itself as one of India’s leading production houses with pan-India blockbusters such as KGF, KGF: Chapter 2, Kantara and Salaar, and the collaboration marks another major addition to its expanding slate.
The production house made the announcement on June 29 through its official X account, teasing the project with the hashtag #SuriyaXHombale, followed by the message: “Now, the most fearless actor of his generation steps onto his grandest stage yet.”
“He built it. Frame by frame. Film by film. Fight by fight. Roles that bled truth. Characters that carried the weight of real lives. A journey defined by courage, conviction, and craft. Three decades of truth on screen. Countless hearts touched beyond it,” the post read.

Hombale Films founder Vijay Kiragandur also welcomed the collaboration, saying, “At Hombale Films, we have always believed that powerful cinema is born when passionate people come together with a shared vision. Collaborating with Suriya and T.J. Gnanavel is a step towards telling a story that is honest, meaningful, and will connect with audiences across the world.”
The upcoming film is set to bring together Suriya, South Indian actress and model Kayadu Lohar, and acclaimed filmmaker T.J. Gnanavel, marking their first collaboration with Hombale Films. The makers have described the project as a hard-hitting, gritty drama with commercial elements, although the official title and storyline are yet to be revealed.
Suriya and Gnanavel previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed Jai Bhim (2021), a courtroom drama inspired by real-life events that explored caste discrimination, police brutality and the fight for justice. The film received widespread critical acclaim upon release and further strengthened Gnanavel’s reputation for socially relevant storytelling. Their reunion has therefore generated considerable interest among fans and industry observers alike.
The upcoming film also boasts an experienced technical team, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by S. R. Kathir, production design by K. Kathir, and editing by Philomin Raj. Sai Abhyankkar has emerged as one of the industry’s promising young composers, while Philomin Raj is known for editing several successful Tamil blockbusters, adding further anticipation to the project.
Suriya was most recently seen in the action drama Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji and co-starring Trisha Krishnan. The film featured Suriya in an action-oriented role and received a positive response for its performances and commercial appeal, adding further momentum to the actor’s lineup of upcoming projects. Alongside this untitled Hombale Films production, Suriya continues to strengthen his presence in large-scale Tamil and pan-India cinema.
The screenplay has been written by Bilal Siddiqi, who previously co-wrote The Bastards of Bollywood. Siddiqi also shares a long-standing personal and professional association with Suriya, having collaborated with Emraan Hashmi on The Kiss of Life, making him one of the key creative voices behind the upcoming project.
The title and release date of the film are yet to be announced by the makers. However, with Suriya reuniting with T.J. Gnanavel and joining hands with Hombale Films for the first time, the announcement has already generated significant excitement among fans eager to see one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars collaborate with one of India’s most successful production houses.
