The trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3 has finally been released, showing that growing up might be the hardest level Red has ever had to beat. The film hits theatres on December 23, 2026, with the story taking a different turn. Red is now a full-time parent, and parenting turns out to be a lot messier than fighting pigs.

The trailer catches up with Red as he juggles everything that comes with raising a family. He is shown baby-proofing the house, trying hard to connect with his teenage kids, who clearly want nothing to do with him, and figuring out how to be a good dad. At one point in the trailer, Red says, “I’m a professional, full-time parent. It’s my new job.” It is a funny, relatable line that sets the tone for the entire film.

Unlike the first two Angry Birds films, which were largely driven by big adventures, this installment is built around family life. Walker Scobell, who voices Red’s son, explained that this movie has a completely different feel, with much more heart. Emma Myers, who voices Red’s daughter, added that the film shows Red trying to be the “cool dad,” only to end up embarrassing his kids instead, calling it a very classic dad move.

Red and Silver now have three children together, each bringing a different kind of chaos to the family. Glider, voiced by Walker Scobell, is the teenage son who is always chasing the next risky adventure. June, voiced by Emma Myers, is the creative teenage daughter. Baby Olly, voiced by Psalm West, is the newest addition to the family and needs constant attention. Myers explained that the film explores the full journey of parenting—from caring for a baby to raising a middle-school child and navigating the challenges of a teenager, with each stage bringing its own unique experiences.

The trailer also suggests that The Angry Birds Movie 3 is shifting its focus away from the long-running bird-versus-pig rivalry and placing greater emphasis on Red’s life as a father. While the franchise’s signature humour remains intact, the sequel appears to explore the everyday challenges of parenting, giving the series a more family-oriented and character-driven direction than its predecessors.

Both Walker Scobell and Emma Myers admitted that voicing their characters was far more demanding than they had imagined. Scobell said the experience was simply harder than expected, while Myers revealed that the two would often text each other after recording sessions, comparing notes and realizing they were equally exhausted.

The Angry Birds film franchise began with The Angry Birds Movie in 2016, followed by The Angry Birds Movie 2 in 2019. Both films expanded the world of the hugely popular mobile game into animated adventures and together earned more than $500 million worldwide at the box office. The third installment now looks to build on that success while taking the series in a more family-oriented direction by exploring Red’s life as a father.

The cast includes Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride, all returning to their original roles as Red, Chuck, Silver, and Bomb. They are joined by a long list of new voices, including Walker Scobell, Emma Myers, Marcello Hernández, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Keke Palmer, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser, MrBeast, Salish Matter, Sam Richardson, and James Austin Johnson.

The film is directed by John Rice, who also directed the first Angry Birds Movie in 2016, and is written by Thurop Van Orman. It is produced by Rovio Entertainment and Sega, along with Prime Focus Studios, Flywheel Media, One Cool Group, and Dentsu.

It has been seven years since the last Angry Birds movie, so fans have been waiting a long time for this sequel. With a more grounded, family-focused story and a star-studded voice cast, The Angry Birds Movie 3 looks set to offer a fresh chapter for the franchise while retaining the humour that made the earlier films popular. The film flies into theatres this Christmas on December 23, 2026.
