Vrusshabha

Vrusshabha (October 16, 2025) is an Indian period fantasy action drama film written and directed by Nanda Kishore, jointly produced by Connekkt Media and Balaji Telefilms in association with Abishek S Vyas Studios. The film explores a fantastical narrative blending action, drama, and romance, with Mohanlal in a dual role as Vrusshabha and Viswambhara. Supporting roles are played by Samarjit Lankesh, Ragini Dwivedi, Siddique, Nayan Sarika, and Neha Saxena, among others.

The story follows Mohanlal’s characters across a richly imagined period setting, combining themes of love, honor, and heroism. Principal photography took place from July 2023 to February 2025 in sporadic schedules across India and the United Kingdom. Action sequences, including battles featuring Mohanlal, were shot on elaborate sets in Mysore, while additional schedules were completed in Mumbai.

The film marks extensive preparations for its cast: Samarjit Lankesh underwent rigorous training in horse riding, sword fighting, and gymnastics for his role. Mohanlal’s performance, noted for its gravitas, anchors the film’s dual narrative. Neha Saxena plays Yashodha, an important character whose scenes were filmed across Mysore and Mumbai. The production also involved prominent technicians, with Resul Pookutty handling sound design, and fight choreography by Peter Hein, Stunt Silva, and Nikhil.

Originally announced in July 2022, the project brought together multiple production houses and included Hollywood producer Nick Thurlow as an executive producer. Over five years, director Nanda Kishore developed the screenplay, with dialogues by SRK, Janardhan Maharshi, and Karthik. Marketing materials highlighted the tagline “Reborn love: A love so strong, it defies death,” emphasizing the film’s epic and fantastical romantic elements.

Scheduled for a theatrical release on October 16, 2025, Vrusshabha will be available in Malayalam and Telugu, with dubbed versions in Hindi and Kannada. The film promises a blend of period fantasy, high-octane action, and emotional storytelling, anchored by Mohanlal’s commanding dual performance and a richly designed cinematic world.
