Adèle Exarchopoulos has landed a lead role opposite Zoë Kravitz in Apple Original Films’ untitled mystery project from director Megan Park. The announcement was confirmed by Deadline on August 19 and marks a significant milestone for the acclaimed French actress, as this will be her first American studio lead role.

The film is currently untitled, and its logline is being kept completely under wraps. No story details, genre specifics or character information have been shared. What is confirmed is that both Exarchopoulos and Kravitz are leads and that the project is being directed by Megan Park from her own original screenplay. Park is also executive producing.

Apple Original Films won the project in a competitive bidding war that included major studios and streamers. The battle for the rights signals the level of excitement around Megan Park following the success of her previous films and the package of talent assembled around the new project. It also represents a strong vote of confidence from Apple in both the filmmaker and the material she has brought to the studio.

Megan Park is a Canadian filmmaker who wrote and directed My Old Ass, the 2024 coming-of-age comedy-drama starring Aubrey Plaza and Maisy Stella. The film was well received and helped establish Stella as a rising talent.

Before that, Park directed The Fallout in 2021, a drama about school shooting trauma starring Jenna Ortega that won the Grand Jury Prize at SXSW. Across her two features, Park has built a reputation for exploring the emotional interior lives of her characters, particularly young women navigating difficult circumstances. She is directing the new film from her own script and serving as an executive producer.

Apple Studios and LuckyChap are producing the film in association with FilmNation, with Tom Ackerley and Bronte Payne overseeing the project for LuckyChap. The production adds another title to LuckyChap’s growing slate, following films including Barbie, Saltburn, Wuthering Heights, Bad Bridgets and Nasty.

Exarchopoulos broke out internationally with her lead role opposite Léa Seydoux in Blue Is the Warmest Color, directed by Abdellatif Kechiche. At the film’s 2013 Cannes premiere, she became the youngest-ever winner of the Palme d’Or, sharing the honour with Kechiche and Seydoux. The recognition established her as one of the prominent young actresses in European cinema.

She has since built a diverse body of work across French and international projects, including Passages, Irdma, The Five Devils and the 2026 Cannes competition entry Another Day, directed by Jeanne Herry. In the latter, she plays an actress struggling with alcoholism across an eight-year period. Her casting in the Apple film now brings her into the American studio system as a lead for the first time.

Kravitz brings her own significant profile to the project. She played Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeves’ The Batman in 2022 and most recently starred in Steven Soderbergh’s Presence. She also co-wrote, directed and starred in Blink Twice, her feature directorial debut. Her pairing with Exarchopoulos in a mystery project from Park makes the film one of the more notable casting combinations announced this year.

No release date or production timeline has been confirmed yet. Details about the film, including its title, story and characters, remain under wraps. With Park directing, Exarchopoulos and Kravitz leading the cast, and Apple Studios, LuckyChap and FilmNation behind the project, the film is already one of Apple Original Films’ notable projects in development.
