Drishyam: The Conclusion Release Date: Ajay Devgn’s Final Vijay Salgaonkar Chapter Arrives October 2
August 24, 2026

One of Hindi cinema’s most beloved thriller franchises is coming to a close. Ajay Devgn announced on August 24 that Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third and final chapter of the Hindi Drishyam series, will release in theatres on October 2, 2026. The announcement was accompanied by the film’s first official poster, which reinforces the central idea that has defined Vijay Salgaonkar throughout the franchise: family comes before everything else, including the truth.

Devgn shared the news himself along with the confirmed release date. October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, is a national holiday in India and traditionally provides a strong opportunity at the box office. With no major competition announced for the date so far, the release gives Drishyam: The Conclusion a potentially advantageous holiday window as the franchise prepares to bring Vijay Salgaonkar’s story to an end.

Fans were given their first glimpse of the film’s emotional direction in December 2025, when a teaser was released featuring Devgn narrating Vijay’s internal reckoning. In the teaser, Vijay reflects on the different labels attached to him over the years — criminal, fraud, mastermind, hero and father — before reducing everything to one central truth: his family and his version of reality. He describes himself as a wall that remains standing and protects his family for as long as necessary. The first poster for Drishyam: The Conclusion continues that same thematic thread, while details about the actual story remain tightly under wraps.

Abhishek Pathak, who directed Drishyam 2, returns to close the trilogy. The screenplay has been co-written by Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh, who also worked on the second film. Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios are producing the project. The film has completed shooting and is currently in post-production.

Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, the ordinary family man whose extraordinary efforts to protect his wife and daughters have formed the foundation of the franchise. Tabu also reprises her role as IG Meera Deshmukh, Vijay’s relentless and most formidable opponent across the previous two films. Shriya Saran returns as Nandini Salgaonkar, while Rajat Kapoor is also back in his supporting role.

The third film will also introduce two major new additions to the Drishyam universe. Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat are joining the cast, marking their first appearances in the Hindi franchise. Both actors bring considerable experience in playing complex and authoritative characters, although the nature of their roles in the concluding chapter has not yet been revealed.

The Hindi Drishyam franchise has become one of the notable box office success stories in Hindi cinema over the past decade. The 2015 original, adapted from Jeethu Joseph’s acclaimed Malayalam film, earned approximately ₹110 crore worldwide and introduced Vijay Salgaonkar to a mass Hindi audience. The 2022 sequel significantly expanded on that success, earning nearly ₹342 crore globally and becoming one of the biggest Hindi hits of the year.

That box office history places considerable expectations on Drishyam: The Conclusion. The film is not simply another sequel but the advertised final chapter of the Hindi series, with audiences waiting to discover whether Vijay can once again stay ahead of the authorities or whether the events of the previous films will finally catch up with him.

Interestingly, while the Hindi franchise is preparing to close, the original Malayalam Drishyam series is continuing in the opposite direction. Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph released Drishyam 3 in May 2026, and the film became the biggest entry in the Malayalam franchise, crossing ₹242 crore worldwide after opening to ₹43.37 crore. Producer Antony Perumbavoor has already confirmed that a fourth Malayalam instalment is in development.

That means the Hindi Drishyam universe will reach its conclusion with Drishyam: The Conclusion, even as the original Malayalam franchise continues to expand. For Hindi audiences, however, October 2 will mark the return of Vijay Salgaonkar for what is expected to be his final cinematic chapter.

Drishyam: The Conclusion will release in theatres on October 2, 2026.
