India Weekend Box Office: ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ Opens to ₹93.75 Crore as ‘Hanuman Ansh’ Delivers Record Fifth Weekend

Mirzapur: The Movie Leads India Weekend Box Office With ₹93.75 Crore

Mirzapur: The Movie dominated the India domestic box office over the weekend, opening with a massive ₹93.75 crore net in its first three days. But the biggest surprise came from a film already in its fifth week, as Hanuman Ansh continued its extraordinary theatrical run with ₹49.25 crore net over the weekend.

The contrast between the two films defines the latest box-office frame: Mirzapur: The Movie arrived with the advantage of a hugely popular streaming franchise and a large established audience, while Hanuman Ansh has built its business gradually through strong word of mouth. The latter’s fifth-weekend performance has been reported as the highest fifth-weekend collection in Bollywood history.

Mirzapur: The Movie opened at ₹25.75 crore on Friday before rising to ₹32 crore on Saturday and another ₹36 crore on Sunday. Its three-day India net total of ₹93.75 crore puts the film within touching distance of the ₹100 crore milestone after just one weekend. The day-by-day growth is particularly significant, with Sunday earning substantially more than the opening day. Independent tracking also confirms the ₹93.75 crore three-day total and the film’s strong growth across the weekend.

The performance represents an important theatrical test for Mirzapur, which built its popularity as a streaming series. The film brings back key characters and performers from the franchise, including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu, under director Gurmeet Singh. Rather than showing the front-loaded pattern sometimes associated with franchise openings, the film continued to grow through the weekend, giving its Monday performance added significance.

If Mirzapur: The Movie was the weekend’s biggest opening story, Hanuman Ansh was undoubtedly its biggest long-run story. The Neem Karoli Baba-based spiritual drama collected ₹10 crore on its fifth Friday, followed by ₹16.50 crore on Saturday and a remarkable ₹22.75 crore on Sunday. That brought its fifth-weekend total to ₹49.25 crore and its India net collection to ₹122.13 crore.

The scale of that late surge is difficult to overlook. Hanuman Ansh had opened with only ₹10 lakh on its first day and collected just ₹1.08 crore across its first week. Its fourth week, however, produced ₹61 crore, setting the stage for another explosive weekend. By its 31st day, the film had crossed ₹120 crore net.

The film’s Sunday figure is particularly striking. At ₹22.75 crore, its fifth Sunday alone was more than twice its fifth Friday. The performance has transformed what initially appeared to be a modest theatrical release into one of the year’s most unusual box-office success stories. Reports have also highlighted the film’s extremely low production budget and its extraordinary return at the box office.

Another major regional performer, Irumudi, continued its strong run with ₹16.55 crore in its third weekend. The Ravi Teja-led Telugu film earned ₹4.90 crore on Friday, matched that figure on Saturday and then jumped to ₹6.75 crore on Sunday. Its India net total has reached ₹166.37 crore, according to the figures being used for this weekend roundup.

The Sunday growth was also visible in independent tracking, which recorded a 37.8% increase from Saturday for the film. Irumudi has particularly strong traction in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and continues to lead the Telugu-language box office.

Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game registered ₹19 crore over its extended four-day opening weekend. Since the film opened on Thursday, its figures cover Thursday through Sunday rather than the conventional Friday-Sunday period. It earned ₹5.40 crore on Thursday, followed by ₹4.90 crore on Friday, ₹4.35 crore on Saturday and another ₹4.35 crore on Sunday.

The result gives I’m Game a steady start rather than a heavily front-loaded one. Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, the multilingual action drama marks Dulquer Salmaan’s return to Malayalam cinema after King of Kotha. Its four-day performance will now be followed by its first full week, which should provide a clearer indication of its theatrical staying power.

One of the more notable additions to the weekend picture is Toxic, which has fallen sharply in its second weekend after a much stronger opening. The film added just ₹6.45 crore in India net from Friday through Sunday, collecting ₹1.75 crore on Friday, ₹2.28 crore on Saturday and ₹2.42 crore on Sunday. Its cumulative India net has reached ₹246 crore, but the second-weekend numbers point to a significant loss of momentum after its opening weekend. While the overall total remains substantial, the sharp drop in current business makes Toxic one of the weekend’s clearest examples of a film that has struggled to sustain its initial theatrical impact.

Awarapan 2 remained in the mix during its third weekend, adding ₹3.65 crore to its India net total. The Emraan Hashmi-led film earned ₹1.20 crore on both Friday and Saturday before edging up to ₹1.25 crore on Sunday. Its overall India net collection has reached ₹148 crore, according to the figures used for this report.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continued its unusually long theatrical run in India with ₹1.82 crore during its eighth weekend. The film collected ₹40 lakh on Friday and ₹71 lakh each on Saturday and Sunday, taking its India net total to approximately ₹193 crore. At eight weekends, the film’s performance demonstrates the ability of a large-scale Hollywood release to maintain a significant theatrical presence in India well beyond its opening phase.

Among the other releases, Immortal collected ₹4.51 crore, while Ramba Oorvasi Menaka recorded ₹2.43 crore. Bol Bhavein Na Bol rounded out the weekend’s notable performers with ₹91 lakh.

Overall, the weekend offered a striking mix of theatrical trajectories. Mirzapur: The Movie demonstrated the commercial power of an established streaming property making the jump to cinemas, while Hanuman Ansh delivered the opposite phenomenon: a small film that built momentum over several weeks and is now producing blockbuster-level numbers deep into its run. Irumudi further underlined the strength of regional cinema, while I’m Game delivered a steady extended opening. At the other end of the spectrum, Toxic shows how quickly momentum can disappear even after a film has accumulated a substantial overall total.
