Jeevan Bheema Yojana Shifts to September 4, Arshad Warsi’s Double-Role Film Gets a New Date

Jeevan Bheema Yojana Release Date: Arshad Warsi Film Moves to September 4
August 24, 2026

Jeevan Bheema Yojana, the dark comedy crime thriller starring Arshad Warsi, has moved its worldwide theatrical release date back by one week, from August 28 to September 4, 2026. The makers confirmed the change on August 21, citing the need for the final leg of the film’s marketing campaign and additional time for publicity ahead of its release. A new poster was also unveiled alongside the date announcement.

The Abhishek Dogra-directed film was originally scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 28 but has now been pushed to September 4 to give its promotional campaign more time to build momentum. The one-week shift is a calculated decision rather than a cause for concern, with the film complete and ready for release. The additional time will allow the makers to maximise audience awareness and build advance interest ahead of its theatrical opening.

Jeevan Bheema Yojana follows Jeevan, a debt-ridden middle-class man, and his wife, Yojana, who hatch a plan to fake his death in order to claim insurance money. Their scheme, however, spirals dangerously out of control when they discover that Jeevan’s lookalike, a man named Bheema, is connected to a diamond-smuggling network.

The collision between these two worlds — one ordinary and desperate, the other criminal and dangerous — sets off a chaotic chain of events driven by greed, deception and dark humour. Director Abhishek Dogra has described the film as a story about ordinary people making one extraordinary, catastrophic decision and then dealing with the consequences.

The film also marks the first time in Arshad Warsi’s career that the actor will take on a double role. He plays both Jeevan, the debt-ridden common man, and Bheema, his dangerous lookalike whose criminal connections threaten to pull the characters deeper into a world of crime.

Warsi is one of Hindi cinema’s established comic performers, known for his work in the Munna Bhai series and the Golmaal franchise. The double role gives him the opportunity to play two contrasting characters within the same film, while the dark crime-comedy setting allows the actor to explore a different variation of his familiar comic persona.

Sanjeeda Shaikh plays Yojana, Jeevan’s street-smart and conniving wife who devises the fake-death scheme. Vijay Raaz plays Vinayak, a mysterious character whose secrets gradually emerge as the story unfolds. The ensemble also features Pooja Chopra, Brijendra Kala and the late Atul Parchure. The screenplay has been written by Mukta Bhatt, Vivek Verma and Dogra.

The film also features Atul Parchure in a pivotal role. The Marathi and Hindi actor, known for films including Bheja Fry, Tamasha and Welcome Back, died in December 2023. Jeevan Bheema Yojana will be among his final screen appearances, adding another layer of significance to the film for audiences familiar with his work.

Jeevan Bheema Yojana is presented and produced by StarBeam Ventures Ltd, formerly known as Blue God Entertainment Ltd, with Anshu Mishra serving as producer and Nitin Khanna, Afsana Kherani and Ramen Raheja as co-producers.

Director Abhishek Dogra is best known for Dolly Ki Doli and FryDay, both commercial entertainers built around comedy and genre elements. His return to the crime-comedy space with Jeevan Bheema Yojana brings him back to a genre that combines humour with a high-concept narrative.

Warsi and Sanjeeda Shaikh have also recently appeared together in Dhamaal 4, making Jeevan Bheema Yojana another collaboration between the two actors.

Jeevan Bheema Yojana will now release in theatres worldwide on September 4, 2026.
