Release date: 12/06/2026 | Film: Main Vaapas Aaunga | Director: Imtiaz Ali | Cast: Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina

Directed by Kelsey Mann and written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, the film is a Pixar Animation Studios production and the sequel to Inside Out (2015). The animated coming-of-age story continues to explore the inner emotional life of Riley Andersen as she enters adolescence, with returning voices led by Amy Poehler alongside new emotions introduced to reflect teenage complexity.
Set two years after Riley’s move to San Francisco, the film finds her on the cusp of high school, a period marked by uncertainty, identity shifts, and heightened self-awareness. Inside Headquarters, Riley’s core emotions—Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger—now oversee a newly developed “Sense of Self,” a mental construct shaped by memories and beliefs that define how Riley sees herself. Joy, intent on protecting Riley’s happiness, attempts to curate this sense of identity by suppressing negative experiences.
The arrival of puberty triggers an unexpected upheaval. New emotions—Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui—emerge, each bringing distinct motivations and perspectives. Among them, Anxiety quickly assumes a dominant role, driven by the desire to prepare Riley for social acceptance, achievement, and future success. As Riley attends an intensive ice hockey camp and navigates changing friendships, Anxiety’s influence grows, reshaping her priorities and behavior.
The film’s conflict unfolds both internally and externally, as Riley’s pursuit of belonging and accomplishment begins to erode her sense of balance. The original emotions are sidelined, forcing Joy to confront the consequences of denying discomfort and vulnerability. Rather than positioning Anxiety as a villain, the narrative frames it as a misguided protector—well-intentioned but overwhelming when unchecked.
Kelsey Mann’s direction emphasizes emotional nuance and psychological authenticity. Pixar’s collaboration with psychologists and adolescent consultants informs a story that treats teenage anxiety with empathy rather than simplification. Visually, the film expands the mind’s architecture while maintaining continuity with the original, reinforcing the idea that growth is additive rather than erasing.
Inside Out 2 ultimately reframes emotional maturity as integration rather than control. By allowing joy, fear, doubt, and sadness to coexist, the film presents adolescence as a necessary evolution of selfhood. The result is a resonant continuation that deepens Pixar’s emotional storytelling, reflecting the complexity of growing up without losing clarity or warmth.
