Ustaad Bhagat Singh — Release Date: 26 March 2026. Directed by Harish Shankar, the film is a Telugu-language action comedy produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film stars Pawan Kalyan in the titular role, marking his second collaboration with Harish Shankar after Gabbar Singh (2012).
Ustaad Bhagat Singh is an official Telugu remake of the 2016 Tamil film Theri, reimagined to suit the cultural and narrative sensibilities of Telugu cinema. The story centers on Bhagat Singh, a charismatic and unconventional police officer whose public persona contrasts sharply with his hidden past. Beneath his composed exterior lies a history shaped by violence, loss, and moral conflict, which gradually resurfaces as circumstances force him back into confrontation with powerful adversaries.
The film blends high-energy action with comedy and emotional drama, a tonal mix that has been a defining feature of Harish Shankar’s commercial filmmaking style. While the narrative structure follows the broad outline of its source material, Ustaad Bhagat Singh emphasizes mass appeal through stylized action set pieces, punch dialogues, and a heightened central performance designed around Pawan Kalyan’s screen persona.
The supporting cast includes Sreeleela, Raashii Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Nawab Shah, B. S. Avinash, Gautami, and Chammak Chandra, with additional appearances by Satya Dev and other character actors. Each character contributes to the film’s mix of authority figures, antagonistic forces, and comic relief.
Originally announced in 2021 under the title Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh, the film was later retitled Ustaad Bhagat Singh in December 2022. Production faced multiple delays due to scheduling conflicts involving both the director and lead actor, including Pawan Kalyan’s commitments to other film projects.
Principal photography began in April 2023, with major schedules shot in Hyderabad. The film’s music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, continuing his long-standing association with Telugu commercial cinema. The soundtrack is designed to support the film’s mass-action tone, with emphasis on energetic themes and elevation moments.
Ustaad Bhagat Singh is scheduled for a theatrical release on 26 March 2026, positioning it as a major Telugu commercial release in the first quarter of the year.
