According to multiple media reports, Hrithik Roshan is set to make a high-profile cameo in Rajinikanth‘s upcoming film Jailer 2. Reports suggest that Hrithik Roshan could be stepping into a role that was initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan, who was unable to take up the appearance due to scheduling commitments. The development is also expected to mark a nostalgic on-screen reunion between Hrithik Roshan and Rajinikanth nearly 40 years after Bhagwaan Dada (1986), in which Hrithik appeared as a child artist.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, a source said, “The makers were keen to have Shah Rukh Khan onboard for a 5-day cameo, and he was absolutely open to the idea. However, his current focus remains firmly on King, which holds immense importance for him, especially as it marks his daughter Suhana’s big-screen launch. In a respectful conversation with the team, SRK expressed his willingness to do the cameo while requesting that the release of Jailer could be aligned post King, as he wanted his appearance to remain exclusive to that film. He has a certain look in King, and he doesn’t want to have the same in any other film before.”

Like the first film, Jailer 2 is reportedly packed with high-profile appearances from across Indian cinema. The cameos are said to be strategically designed to elevate the film’s action sequences and overall storytelling. Reports suggest that Hrithik’s appearance could further expand the film’s lineup of major cameos, with names such as Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi, and Mithun Chakraborty being linked to the project.

Hrithik Roshan’s much-talked-about cameo is also said to be receiving special treatment from the makers. Sources close to the actor’s team reportedly told NDTV that multiple look tests are currently underway for his character. The appearance is expected to elevate the actor’s entry into the film and underscore a crucial turning point in the narrative.

Sources close to the development further suggest that music composer Anirudh Ravichander is working on a power-packed background score specifically designed for Hrithik’s action-heavy appearance. Known for delivering crowd-pleasing themes and chart-topping soundtracks, Anirudh is reportedly crafting a special musical treatment to accompany the actor’s entry sequence.

According to reports, Hrithik has officially agreed to be a part of the project and is expected to shoot for his portions in Chennai later this month. Multiple look tests are reportedly being conducted for the actor, with the makers said to be designing an entirely new avatar for his character. Reports also suggest that his sequences will be mounted on a grand scale and will feature Hrithik in a high-octane role that could prove to be a major attraction for audiences. Sources indicate that his appearance comes at a crucial point in the story and assists Rajinikanth’s character in moving the narrative forward.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 also stars SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. The sequel is one of the most anticipated Indian films currently in production, following the massive success of the original Jailer. Jailer 2 could arrive in theatres around the Ganesh Chaturthi weekend in September 2026, although the makers have yet to announce an official release date. Earlier speculation about a June release did not materialize, and the final release strategy remains under wraps. The film could deliver one of the most talked-about collaborations in recent Indian cinema, bringing together Rajinikanth and Hrithik Roshan on screen for the first time since Bhagwaan Dada nearly four decades ago.
