Girls on Wire

“Girls on Wire” (Chinese: 想飞的女孩) is an upcoming Chinese drama film directed by Vivian Qu. Set to have its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival on February 17, 2025, the film will later be released in Chinese theaters on March 8, 2025.

The story follows Tian Tian, a single mother who, in a moment of self-defense, kills a drug dealer. As a result, she becomes the target of violent criminals seeking retribution. Fleeing for her life, Tian Tian seeks refuge with her estranged cousin, Fang Di, whom she hasn’t seen in five years. However, Fang Di, shaped by her own personal struggles, is initially reluctant to welcome Tian Tian into her life.

As the criminals close in on Tian Tian, the cousins are forced to confront not only the immediate dangers threatening their lives but also the emotional distance that has grown between them over the years. Despite their differences, their shared history and familial bond draw them closer, and they must navigate a treacherous path of survival, reconciliation, and self-discovery.

“Girls on Wire” is a gripping exploration of family ties, guilt, survival, and personal redemption.
