Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is seeing a strong advance booking response ahead of its August 26 release. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film has sold more than 4.7 lakh tickets so far, with direct advance gross crossing ₹18 crore. Including blocked seats, the total advance booking value has now crossed ₹27 crore.
Karnataka has emerged as the film’s strongest market by a significant margin, with direct advance sales in the state crossing ₹9.5 crore. The film’s Kannada version continues to lead the language-wise breakdown, followed by Hindi, while the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions have also recorded steady advance sales. Premium formats, including IMAX and 4DX, have added further momentum to the film’s Kannada advance bookings.
Trade trackers have also highlighted the scale of the Karnataka pre-sales. According to the figures cited in the report, Toxic has become the first standalone film, rather than a franchise or sequel, to cross the ₹20 crore mark in Karnataka pre-sales. The milestone had previously been achieved by KGF: Chapter 2 and Kantara: Chapter 1.
The film’s advance booking momentum has extended to overseas markets as well. In the United States, Toxic has sold more than 5,500 tickets across over 200 locations, generating more than $121,000 in early advance sales.
The film has also crossed a major milestone on BookMyShow, surpassing 1 million registered interests. According to the report, Toxic is only the 14th Indian film to cross that mark and is the second film featuring Yash to do so after KGF: Chapter 2. The latter currently ranks third on the platform’s all-time interest list.
Comparisons with KGF: Chapter 2 have been inevitable throughout the promotional campaign. The 2022 blockbuster had reportedly crossed around ₹80 crore in all-India advance bookings before its release and went on to record a ₹161.38 crore worldwide opening day. Toxic is currently tracking below that pace, although trade expectations remain high, with analysts cited in the report expecting the film to potentially cross ₹100 crore worldwide on its opening day.
Ticket pricing has also become part of the conversation around Toxic. Premium recliner seats have crossed ₹2,000 at several major-city locations. At PVR Director’s Cut at Ambience Mall in Delhi, tickets have been listed as high as ₹2,400, among the highest reported prices for the film. Mumbai and Bengaluru have also recorded similarly high prices at select luxury screens, although regular seating remains available at considerably lower rates across most cinemas.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is a period gangster drama set against the backdrop of the Goan underworld during the decline of Portuguese rule. Yash leads the film alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair.
The film has received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification with no cuts. It is produced by Venkat K. Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Toxic is targeting a worldwide release across approximately 12,000 screens and is scheduled to open in theatres on August 26, 2026.
With advance sales crossing ₹27 crore including blocked seats, more than 4.7 lakh tickets already sold and strong pre-release activity in Karnataka and overseas markets, Toxic is heading into release with substantial advance demand. Its eventual opening-day performance will determine how closely it can approach the benchmarks set by KGF: Chapter 2, particularly the possibility of crossing ₹100 crore worldwide on day one.
