After the massive success of the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which reportedly became the most-viewed trailer in history with 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours, Spider-Man is back with its highly anticipated second trailer.
Sony Pictures has unveiled a new look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day, bringing Tom Holland back as Peter Parker for the next chapter in the Marvel and Sony franchise. The film is set to arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026, and the latest trailer offers audiences a deeper look at the challenges awaiting Peter in a world that no longer remembers who he is.
The story takes place years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker made the difficult decision to erase himself from everyone’s memory in order to save the multiverse. As a result, even those closest to him—including MJ, played by Zendaya, and Ned, played by Jacob Batalon—have no recollection of their shared past. The new trailer highlights the emotional consequences of that decision. Peter appears to be struggling with a lonely new reality while trying to continue his responsibilities as Spider-Man. Audiences also get a glimpse of MJ moving on with her life, forcing Peter to confront the painful reality that the people he loves no longer know who he is.
This installment appears to take the character in a more mature direction than previous films. While the humor and action that fans expect from Spider-Man remain intact, the trailer suggests a darker and more emotional story centered on sacrifice, identity, and responsibility. As per the film’s official logline: “He’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city, a full-time Spider-Man, but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
The trailer also teases several major developments, including new threats emerging in New York City, Peter’s apparent physical transformation, and large-scale action sequences that could have significant consequences for the character. While Sony and Marvel continue to keep many plot details under wraps, the footage suggests that Peter’s biggest battle may be as much personal as it is physical.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film also stars Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Zendaya alongside Holland.
At CinemaCon, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman praised the upcoming film and Holland’s performance, telling exhibitors: “It’s as big as anything we’ve ever made, and yet it feels like nothing we’ve ever made. And it has Tom Holland, and I can say this because I’ve seen the movie, in his finest performance.”
Holland has now played Spider-Man for a decade. He first debuted as the character in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War before headlining three solo Spider-Man films and appearing in multiple Avengers movies. His last standalone outing, Spider-Man: No Way Home, became Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing film of all time, earning nearly $2 billion at the worldwide box office.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives nearly five years after the release of No Way Home, making it one of Marvel’s most anticipated projects of the coming year. Holland previously spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about returning for another Spider-Man adventure, explaining: “It’s a collaborative process. The first few meetings were about, ‘Why would we do this again?’ And I think we found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative.”
Beyond the story itself, the film is also introducing a unique theatrical presentation. Marvel previously revealed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been specially crafted in two native aspect ratios, offering audiences an optimized viewing experience depending on the type of screen being used.
For the first time in Spider-Man history, the film will be distributed in both a 1.90:1 presentation for flat screens and a 2.39:1 presentation for scope screens. According to Marvel, the approach is designed to fill the screen more completely and showcase every frame as intended in every auditorium, creating a larger and more immersive cinematic experience.
With a new trailer generating excitement across social media and anticipation continuing to build, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be one of the biggest superhero releases of 2026. Fans will finally get to see Peter Parker’s next chapter unfold when the film swings into theaters on July 31.
