Spider-Man: Brand New Day — Release Date: 31 July 2026. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes, the film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. Produced by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Pascal Pictures, the film serves as the fourth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man series and the 38th film in the MCU overall.
Set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the story follows Peter Parker as he embraces a new life in which the world has forgotten his identity. Living anonymously in New York City, Parker dedicates himself entirely to protecting the city as Spider-Man while navigating the challenges of adulthood without the support systems that once defined his life. As he investigates a dangerous new threat emerging from New York’s criminal underworld, he also discovers unexpected changes to his powers, forcing him to confront questions about responsibility, identity, and the future of his role as a hero.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, continuing a portrayal that has spanned multiple MCU phases. Zendaya reprises her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, while Jacob Batalon returns as Ned Leeds. The film also introduces Sadie Sink in a major role and brings together several notable Marvel characters, including Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle / Punisher, Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan / Scorpion, and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner / Hulk. The ensemble expands the film’s connection to the wider MCU while maintaining a story rooted primarily in New York City’s street-level conflicts.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, approaches the project as the beginning of a new chapter for the character. The filmmakers have described the film as a fresh start for Spider-Man, emphasizing a more mature stage in Peter Parker’s life and a return to stories focused on neighborhood crime, personal responsibility, and everyday heroism. The title itself draws inspiration from Marvel Comics’ “Brand New Day” storyline, which redefined Spider-Man’s status quo following a major turning point in the character’s history.
Filming took place across Scotland and England, including extensive location work in Glasgow and London, alongside studio production at Pinewood Studios. Michael Giacchino returns to compose the score, continuing his musical collaboration with the MCU Spider-Man franchise. Positioned as a new beginning for Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Brand New Day aims to balance character-focused storytelling with superhero action while launching the next phase of Spider-Man’s journey within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on 31 July 2026.
