Her Private Hell — Release Date: 24 July 2026. The story follows Elle, a young woman whose path intersects with a mysterious figure known as Private K in a world where reality, technology, and human identity become increasingly difficult to separate. As Elle is drawn deeper into an unsettling environment populated by enigmatic individuals and hidden agendas, she finds herself confronting disturbing truths that blur the boundaries between perception and reality. Combining elements of science fiction, horror, and psychological suspense, the narrative unfolds through an atmosphere of mystery, surreal imagery, and escalating tension.

Sophie Thatcher leads the cast as Elle, with Charles Melton portraying Private K. The ensemble includes Havana Rose Liu as Dominique, Kristine Froseth as Hunter, Shioli Kutsuna as Ms. T, Aoi Yamada as Ms. S, Dougray Scott as Johnny Thunders, Diego Calva as Nico, and Hidetoshi Nishijima as Hayashi. The international cast reflects the film’s multicultural setting and contributes to a story that moves between emotional drama, futuristic mystery, and psychological horror.

Director Nicolas Winding Refn returns to feature filmmaking after directing the streaming series Too Old to Die Young and Copenhagen Cowboy. Renowned for his stylized visual approach and atmospheric storytelling, Refn once again explores themes of violence, identity, obsession, and isolation through striking cinematography, deliberate pacing, and neon-infused aesthetics. The screenplay, co-written with Esti Giordani, continues the filmmaker’s interest in blending genre cinema with art-house sensibilities.

Principal photography took place over 57 days in Copenhagen during 2025. The film features an original score by legendary Italian composer Pino Donaggio, marking his first collaboration with Refn. The production premiered out of competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival before its theatrical release, further highlighting Refn’s continued presence within international festival cinema.

Combining science fiction, horror, psychological thriller, and neo-noir influences, Her Private Hell presents a visually stylized exploration of fear, identity, and human perception. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on 24 July 2026 through Neon.
