Mandaadi — Release Date: 4 September 2026. Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi and produced by Elred Kumar under the banner of RS Infotainment, the film stars Soori, Suhas, and Mahima Nambiar, alongside Sathyaraj, Achyuth Kumar, Ravindra Vijay, Bala Saravanan, and Mithun Jai Sankar. Written by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, the film is a sports action drama set against a coastal backdrop and marks another major lead role for Soori following his transition from comedy to character-driven and action-oriented performances.
Set in a fishing community closely connected to the sea, the story revolves around Muthukaali, a determined man whose life is shaped by the traditions, struggles, and competitive spirit of the coastal world around him. The narrative combines sports drama, action, and community-based storytelling, exploring themes of perseverance, identity, rivalry, and resilience. Against the backdrop of the ocean and maritime culture, the film follows characters whose ambitions and conflicts unfold within an environment where survival and livelihood are deeply tied to the sea.
Soori plays Muthukaali, the film’s central character, leading an ensemble cast that includes Telugu actor Suhas as Puli and Mahima Nambiar in a key role. Veteran actor Sathyaraj appears in a pivotal part, while Achyuth Kumar, Ravindra Vijay, Bala Saravanan, Krish Hassan, Mithun Jai Sankar, Aadukalam Murugadoss, and others contribute to the supporting cast. The film brings together performers from Tamil and Telugu cinema, creating a diverse ensemble around its coastal setting and sports-driven narrative.
Director Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, known for Selfie (2022), returns with a project rooted in regional culture and grounded storytelling. A former assistant director to Vetrimaaran, Pugazhendhi collaborates with his mentor once again, with Vetrimaaran serving as the film’s creative producer. The production places significant emphasis on authenticity, utilizing extensive coastal locations and large-scale practical filming to recreate the world of its characters.
The technical crew includes music composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematographer S. R. Kathir, editor Pradeep E. Ragav, and action choreographer Peter Hein. Production faced challenges during filming when a boat used for a major sequence capsized, resulting in the loss of equipment, though shooting later resumed and was completed in April 2026.
Blending sports competition, action, and coastal community drama, Mandaadi aims to showcase a distinctive maritime setting rarely explored in mainstream Tamil cinema. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 4 September 2026 during the Janmashtami holiday period.
