Avengers: Doomsday — Release Date: 18 December 2026. Produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO, the superhero epic serves as the sequel to Avengers: Endgame (2019), the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and a major chapter in Phase Six of the franchise.

Set fourteen months after the events of Thunderbolts (2025), the story brings together heroes from multiple universes as an unprecedented multiversal crisis threatens all existence. Earth’s Avengers, the New Avengers, Wakanda’s defenders, the Fantastic Four, and the original X-Men from another universe must unite against Victor von Doom, whose immense power and ambitions place the fate of countless realities at risk. As worlds collide and long-separated heroes cross paths for the first time, the battle becomes one of survival, sacrifice, and the future of the multiverse itself.

Robert Downey Jr. returns to the Marvel universe in an entirely new role as Victor von Doom, marking a significant departure from his iconic portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man. Chris Evans reprises his role as Steve Rogers, joining Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier. The Fantastic Four are represented by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, while the original X-Men cast returns with Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and Kelsey Grammer. The ensemble also includes Riz Ahmed, Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Channing Tatum, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, and numerous returning Marvel characters from across the MCU.

Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo return to Marvel after helming Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The screenplay reunites the filmmakers with longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely alongside Michael Waldron, shifting the franchise from the previously planned Kang storyline to a narrative centered on Doctor Doom and the collision of multiple universes. Principal photography took place at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional location filming in England and Bahrain. Cinematography is by Emmanuel Lubezki, while Alan Silvestri returns to compose the score.

Designed as one of the largest crossover events in Marvel Studios history, Avengers: Doomsday unites characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Fantastic Four, and the original X-Men film series within a single story. Serving as the penultimate chapter of the Multiverse Saga, the film sets the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars while expanding the MCU’s exploration of alternate realities and interconnected worlds. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for theatrical release on 18 December 2026.
