Seeking to preserve her memories and experiences, she turns to Canarian poet Natalia Sosa Ayala to help write her memoirs. What begins as a creative collaboration gradually evolves into a profound personal connection between two women whose lives have been shaped by ambition, art, and the expectations of the society around them. As their relationship deepens, they must navigate a world where expressions of identity and personal freedom face significant social constraints.

Adriana Ugarte portrays Pinito del Oro, one of the most celebrated figures in Spanish circus history, while Tania Santana plays poet Natalia Sosa Ayala. Their performances form the emotional center of a story that intertwines romance, artistic expression, and historical context. Supporting roles are played by Antonia San Juan, Luifer Rodríguez, Salva Reina, and Maykol Hernández, who help bring to life the cultural and social environment surrounding the protagonists.

Director Arima León developed the project from academic research focused on the representation of relationships between women in cinema. Drawing from historical sources and biographical material, León constructs a narrative that combines personal storytelling with broader reflections on memory, creativity, and social attitudes during a pivotal period in Spanish history. The film places particular emphasis on the cultural identity of the Canary Islands, where much of the story is rooted.

Production took place across locations in Gran Canaria, including Teror and Ciudad Jardín, helping to recreate the atmosphere of the era. Adriana Ugarte prepared extensively for her role, studying archival material related to Pinito del Oro and working on regional speech patterns associated with the Canary Islands. The film’s visual approach seeks to capture both the intimacy of its central relationship and the historical setting in which it unfolds.

Combining biography, romance, and historical drama, Love on a Tightrope examines the intersection of art, identity, and personal freedom through the lives of two remarkable women. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in Spain on 10 July 2026.
