DC — Release Date: 7 August 2026. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the Tamil-language romantic action film stars Lokesh Kanagaraj, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, the film marks acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj’s debut as a lead actor. Featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Mukesh G, and editing by Prasanna GK, DC blends romance, action, and revenge into an emotionally charged narrative.

The story follows Devadas, a rebellious young man whose life changes when he crosses paths with Chandra. Drawn together by fate, the pair find themselves navigating a violent world where survival demands courage, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty. As dangerous enemies close in and old rivalries resurface, their growing relationship is tested by betrayal, bloodshed, and impossible choices. With Parvathi playing a significant role in the unfolding drama, the story explores how love and vengeance become intertwined in a conflict where every decision carries life-altering consequences. Combining emotional relationships with high-stakes action, the narrative follows Devadas and Chandra as they struggle to protect each other while confronting the forces threatening to destroy them.

Lokesh Kanagaraj makes his acting debut as Devadas, opposite Wamiqa Gabbi as Chandra, while Sanjana Krishnamoorthy portrays Parvathi. The names of the three principal characters intentionally reference the iconic literary figures Devadas, Chandramukhi, and Parvathi from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic novel Devdas, though the film presents an original contemporary story. Wamiqa Gabbi reportedly underwent extensive preparation for the role, including mastering the local Madurai dialect to bring authenticity to her performance.

Director Arun Matheswaran, known for his visually stylized action dramas, reunites with several prominent collaborators while working with Lokesh Kanagaraj in a new capacity as a leading actor. The screenplay was developed with Arun Rajan, while Franklin Jacob contributed the dialogue. The film’s soundtrack is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, whose music plays a major role in the film’s promotional campaign, featuring songs including “Ain’t Nobody,” “Bloody Valentine,” “Hangova,” and “Bum Baa Diga Diga.” Principal photography took place across Chennai and Madurai, concluding in April 2026.

Combining romance, action, and revenge with emotionally driven storytelling, DC explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and survival through the journey of two individuals bound together by love amid relentless violence. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 7 August 2026.
