Serving as a sequel to the 2007 cult film Awarapan, the romantic action drama brings back Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit while continuing the emotional and action-driven storytelling associated with the original.

The story reunites audiences with Shivam Pandit, whose life once again becomes intertwined with love, sacrifice, and dangerous circumstances. As new relationships and adversaries emerge, Shivam is drawn into a journey shaped by personal redemption, emotional conflict, and high-stakes action. Blending romance with crime and suspense, the narrative explores themes of loyalty, loss, and second chances while expanding the world established in the first film. Although specific plot details remain undisclosed, the sequel continues the franchise’s focus on emotionally driven storytelling set against a backdrop of violence, betrayal, and moral dilemmas.

Emraan Hashmi reprises his role as Shivam Pandit nearly two decades after the original film’s release, marking one of the actor’s most anticipated franchise returns. Disha Patani joins the series as the female lead, while veteran actor Shabana Azmi portrays Nafisa. Supporting roles are played by Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, and Atul Kumar, adding new characters to the film’s expanding narrative.

Director Nitin Kakkar helms the sequel, bringing a fresh creative perspective to one of Vishesh Films’ most memorable titles. Produced by Vishesh Films, the project continues the banner’s long association with character-driven thrillers and musical romances. Principal photography took place across Bangkok, Mumbai, Rajasthan, and Malaysia, giving the film an international visual scale while maintaining the grounded emotional tone associated with the original.

The soundtrack features music composed by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Mallik, and Akhil Sachdeva, with lyrics by Rashmi Virag and Sayeed Quadri. The background score is composed by Raju Singh. The film also revisits two of the original’s most recognizable songs, “Tera Mera Rishta” and “Toh Phir Aao,” introducing recreated versions that connect the sequel to the musical legacy of the 2007 film.

Combining romance, action, and emotional drama, Awarapan 2 revisits one of Emraan Hashmi’s most celebrated screen characters while introducing a new chapter in the franchise. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 14 August 2026, coinciding with the Independence Day holiday weekend.
